Week 7 of Monday Night Football brings another doubleheader when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Detroit Lions in Motown in Game 1, while the Houston Texans travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the nightcap.

The Bucs and Lions are two early favorites in the NFC, so this matchup could go a long way in determining the fate of the conference later in the season. For Houston and Seattle, this battle means everything in terms of gaining ground in their conference, and for the other, it's about staying in the mix with some of the big dogs in the league.

The Buccaneers (5-1) currently sit atop the NFC while the Lions (4-2) are looking to stay close within the conference and also keep pace in the NFC North. Tampa Bay comes in having won its last two games and scoring 30 or more in both wins over San Francisco and Seattle. Detroit is coming off its second loss of the season after falling to Kansas City in Week 6, 30-17. This could turn into a duel between two quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff, who are having MVP-caliber campaigns.

What remains to be seen is if the Bucs will be as explosive with so many offensive injuries. Starting running back Bucky Irving and wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. are out, while Mike Evans and rookie Emeka Egbuka have each been dealing with a hamstring injury, though they're both officially active for Week 7. It's a matchup between two explosive offenses and should be a thriller despite the injuries.

Houston had a rough 0-3 start to the season, but has bounced back, winning its last two games before the Week 6 bye. Now the Texans look to reach .500 for the first time this season with a win over the 4-2 Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks need a win after the Rams and 49ers won on Sunday to improve to 5-2, respectively; the NFC West race has been tight thus far, and Seattle cannot afford to fall behind.

This matchup between Houston and Seattle pits the Texans' No. 1 scoring defense (12.2 points per game) against the Seahawks' No. 5-ranked scoring offense (27.7). Outside of the quarterback matchup between Houston's C.J. Stroud and Seattle's Sam Darnold, most will be paying close attention to how the Texans' secondary approaches the task of attempting to slow down Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He leads the NFL in receiving yards (696), receiving yards per game (116), and receiving yards per target (12.4). That matchup could be what makes or breaks this game.

Both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions lost their 2024 offensive coordinators this year, as Liam Coen and Ben Johnson accepted head coach positions with the Jaguars and Bears, respectively.

But that hasn't slowed these teams down so far in 2025. Here's a look at where each of these offenses currently ranks in the league in various advanced metrics, courtesy of PFF:

The Detroit Lions are 6-point favorites over visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7 at BetMGM, and Yahoo Sports' Matt Russell is taking the Lions to cover.

He writes:

"Whether Detroit covers will come down to whether Mayfield can again take advantage of cluster injuries, this time to the Lions' secondary, as they were already going to be without Terrion Arnold and D.J. Reed for a second-straight game, before Brian Branch hauled off and slugged Juju Smith-Schuster after Sunday's game in Kansas City, getting himself suspended.

The good news for the Lions is that DT Alim McNeill is making his return on Monday, making it the first time that he and Aidan Hutchinson will be on the field together in over a calendar year, and if DJ Reader can go, the Lions should shut down the Bucs' run game (without Bucky Irving) and make the Bucs' offense one-dimensional.

Had Mayfield been brought down during a couple of his epic scrambles this season, the Bucs might be 3-3 and just another average team that's in tough on the road in Detroit."

EThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered the week uncertain that they'd have any of their top-three wideouts, having ruled out Chris Godwin Jr. with a fibula injury and listing Mike Evans and rookie Emeka Egbuka with hamstring injuries ... but fret not, fantasy managers.

Evans and Egbuka are both reportedly good to go for Week 7 after testing their injuries in a pregame warmup, Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud reported ahead of kickoff.

Emeka Egbuka will play tonight after testing his hamstring pregame. Both Mike Evans and Egbuka expected to play against a best up Lions secondary.

Egbuka's availability, in particular, is a surprise, as he had suffered the injury just last week. Heading into Week 7, Egbuka ranked fourth among all wide receivers in the league with 469 receiving yards, with five receiving touchdowns over his first six games.

Evans makes his return to the lineup after missing the past three games with a hamstring injury. Injury aside, Evans has been off to a slower start this year, averaging a career-low 46.7 receiving yards per game through his three appearances in 2025.
