Indiana Pacers rookie Kam Jones was arrested on Monday morning after he was pulled over for driving erratically on an Indianapolis-area freeway while trying to get to practice, according to the Indianapolis Star.
An Indiana State police officer allegedly spotted Jones driving around 90 mph and in an "erratic" way on I-65 in Marion County. Jones was rapidly changing lanes without using turn signals and following too close to other vehicles, the report said.

The officer said Jones failed to immediately comply when he started trying to pull him over, and that Jones drove for several minutes before finally pulling over near an exit. Jones was eventually arrested and taken into custody. He later told police that he was "running late for practice."
Jones was preliminarily charged with one count of reckless driving and one count of resisting law enforcement. He has not yet been formally charged.
"We are aware of the situation involving Kam Jones," the Pacers said in a statement. "We are in the process of gathering additional information and will not have any further comment on the matter at this time."
Jones was selected the No. 38 overall pick in the NBA Draft earlier this year. He averaged 19.2 points and 5.9 assists per game while earning All-American honors at Marquette. Jones and the Golden Eagles reached the Sweet 16 in 2024, but they were knocked out of the tournament in the first round this past March. Jones has yet to play in the preseason for the Pacers while dealing with a back injury.
The Pacers went 50-32 last season and made it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2000, though they fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They'll open the regular season against the Thunder on Thursday.
