The Minnesota Vikings condemned the racist and abusive messages cornerback Isaiah Rodgers received on social media following their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Rodgers shared screenshots of messages he said he received on Instagram after the Vikings' 28-22 loss to the Eagles at US Bank Stadium. The messages in question, which he put up on his Instagram story, included multiple racial slurs and other abusive language. One of them said Rodgers was "worse than Hitler."
Rodgers called the person out in the messages, and the unnamed user later apologized.
Rodgers posted about the messages on social media on Monday, too, and said it was "some of the most racist comments" he's seen since he entered the league.
Some of the most racist comments I ever seen or read since i enter the league . 😂😂😂😂

"We are disgusted by the racial slurs directed at Isaiah Rodgers following yesterday's game," the Vikings said in a statement on Monday afternoon. "As we have said previously, there simply is no room for racist words or actions in sports or society.
"We support Isaiah and all players who, unfortunately, experience this type of ignorant and prejudicial behavior far too often, and we ask our fans to continue to fight to eliminate racism."
Rodgers is in his fifth season in the league, and his first with the Vikings after he signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the club this past offseason. The 27-year-old had two total tackles in Sunday's loss and was beaten twice in big plays that helped the Eagles seal the win. One was a 79-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith, and the other was a 45-yard toss to A.J. Brown late in the fourth quarter. Rodgers took responsibility for the mistakes after the game.
"I put it on me," he said, via ESPN. "I came here for a reason, and those type of plays I know I can make. So, I put it on me."
The Vikings now sit at 3-3 on the season after Sunday's loss. They'll take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night.
