A DJ only played Glee cover songs at a wedding reception last year, despite neither groom being a fan of the show

One wedding guest recalled the weird wedding situation to Nathan Ramos-Park, who retold the story in an Instagram Reel

"To whoever that DJ was, that is the boldest thing I've ever heard. I hope this DJ stays booked and blessed, and just hoodwinking people because that's crazy," Ramos-Park said

A DJ only played Glee cover songs at a wedding reception, despite neither of the grooms being a fan of the show.

Writer Nathan Ramos-Park couldn't help but retell the "craziest wedding story" he's ever heard. In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, June 26, Ramos-Park shared the wild wedding tale with his more than 60,000 followers.

"My friends just went to a wedding last year. You know, beautiful gay wedding. It's picturesque, it's beautifully catered, and they open the dance floor — the Glee cover of 'Raise Your Glass,' that Pink song, [played] and my friend's like, 'Oh, okay cool. Okay Glee. Maybe they like Glee.' "

Ramos-Park's friend figured that at least one of the two men getting married must be fans of the musical drama show, which followed William McKinley High School's struggling glee club. The TV series premiered in May 2009 and concluded in March 2015 after six seasons. Its soundtracks regularly topped the Billboard 100 chart, sparking a 2010 concert tour and launching the careers of stars including Lea Michele and Darren Criss.

Initially, the wedding guest also thought that would be the only Glee cover song slipped into the reception playlist, but he was wrong in both his assumptions.

"Next song, 'We Are Young' — Glee cover," Ramos-Park continued. "He's just like, 'Okay, man. They really, really love Glee.' Third song, fourth song, fifth song — all Glee covers."

Ramos-Park's friend turned to other guests in confusion, and thought to himself, "What is going on?" Because it was their friend's wedding day, he "let it be," thinking to himself, "He clearly loves Glee. It's a gay wedding, it's not out of the ordinary."

"The DJ proceeds to play Glee covers the entire night," Ramos-Park said. "Of course, it ends with 'Don't Stop Believing' by Glee, the cast of Glee."

Eventually, the wedding guest approached one of the grooms for an explanation.

"He's like, 'Man, I didn't know that you loved Glee so much, but you know what, it must be the perfect wedding for you if you loved Glee. Like, this is it. This is a Glee wedding,' " Ramos-Park said.

It turns out, the groom was just as lost as he was.

"His friend goes, 'I don't like Glee. I don't know why the DJ only played Glee covers,' " Ramos-Park continued.

It's unclear if anyone ever stopped the DJ from exclusively playing music from Glee, or if partygoers just let it happen. In any case, Ramos-Park has a message for the DJ: "To whoever that DJ was, that is the boldest thing I've ever heard. I hope this DJ stays booked and blessed, and just hoodwinking people because that's crazy."

Instagram users commented that the story was hilarious or a "hate crime."

"Obsessed with this DJ, he should rebrand as "the Glee-J" after this power move 😂," the top comment reads.

Another person joked, "The grooms probably said, 'Play nice songs, we want a gleeful day,' and DJ went, 'Say less.' "
