Georgina Chapman is facing foreclosure on her New York City apartment, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The English fashion designer and co-founder of Marchesa, 49, was issued a foreclosure notice on Wednesday, Oct. 15 that read, "You are in danger of losing your home," per the legal documents.
The complaint stated that in January 2022, Chapman was indebted to CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC in the sum of $2.5 million, so she "executed a note to secure that sum" with a loan that would need to be paid off in monthly installments of $9,114.58 on the same day of each month until February 2052.
In order to secure the loan, Chapman mortgaged the property with her brother Edward Chapman, who is also CEO of Marchesa.

In November 2024, Chapman defaulted on the property's mortgage and "failed to comply with the conditions of the mortgage by failing to pay portions of principal, interest or taxes, assessments, water rates, insurance premiums, escrow and/or other charges," per the complaint.
She now owes the initial loan of $2.5 million, in addition to interest since October 2024 and late charges.
In addition to the foreclosure notice, the complaint also states that the board at Chapman's apartment building sued her in February this year after she fell behind on dues amounting to $7,898.67.
PEOPLE reached out to Chapman's attorney for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Weinstein is currently serving a criminal sentence for his 2022 convictions for sex crimes charges in California. He was separately convicted of rape and sexual assault in New York in 2020, but those convictions were overturned in April 2024.
Chapman was granted primary custody of her and Weinstein's two children, India and Dashiell, and she's currently in a relationship with actor Adrien Brody.
