While answering fans' questions about his hit Food Network series Beat Bobby Flay on his Instagram Stories on Thursday, Oct. 16, the culinary star was asked about an "ingredient that other people love to cook with" that he doesn't like.

Flay frequently takes to Instagram to answer questions about Beat Bobby Flay. Just last month, he was asked about "the worst mishap" he's had cooking on the show.
"When I was making gnudi they disintegrated in the rolling water .. had to start over," he wrote at the time. Gnudi are a type of Italian dumplings made with ricotta cheese.
In late July, he was asked to identify the toughest ingredient he's given to a chef.
"This might seem odd but during Iron Chef, 'onion' was the secret ingredient," Flay recalled. "Then making 5 amazing dishes was Onion as the focal point.. I failed."
During his most recent question-and-answer session, he also revealed which ingredient was the most challenging to cook with, and he had an honest answer.
"Bitter melon," he wrote, referring to the tropical fruit known for its bitter taste. "Never want to see it again."

Earlier this month, the Bobby's Triple Threat star sparked rumors about his personal life when he posted a photo of the Sunkissed Cooking cookbook author Brooke Williamson's hand on his Instagram Stories.
The Oct. 14 picture showed Williamson's hand in her jean pocket and a big diamond ring sticking out. Over the photo, Flay wrote, "it's casual."
Fans quickly shared conspiracies online, posting about the couple's rumored engagement on Reddit forums and social media. One person wrote on the Beat Bobby Flay competitor's Instagram post, "Excuse me… your story….. 💍"
Soon after, a source close to the couple confirmed to PEOPLE that they are not engaged — but he did gift her the diamond ring.
"It was a gift from Bobby," the source told PEOPLE of the ring. "I've never seen them happier and they are fully committed to one another."
Since going public with their romance, the pair have been busy at the U.S. Open, celebrating Williamson's 47th birthday together and competing on the same team on Family Feud. On Saturday, Oct. 18, the couple will share the stage at New York City Wine & Food Festival's Grand Tasting: After Dark.
"They have been friends for a while and recently decided to jump in," a source told PEOPLE in March 2025, soon after they went public with their relationship. "Her divorce last year probably gave them some additional shared experiences and over the last few weeks, love bloomed."
