Two months after complaining about LGBTQ+ characters in children's media, Snoop Dogg is changing his tune.
The Grammy-winner has partnered with advocacy group GLAAD to celebrate Spirit Day, an annual initiative that rallies celebrities, media outlets, studios, brands, corporations, and other influential voices to stand against the bullying and harassment of LGBTQ+ youth and families. And what better way for Snoop to show support than via the power of song.
In honor of Spirit Day, the rapper has joined forces with former The Voice contestant Jeremy Beloate for a special Spirit Day conversation about their new song, "Love Is Love." The track is featured in the latest episode of Snoop's animated children's YouTube series, Doggyland.
"It's beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks and be shown love, to be taught what love is," Snoop says during the half-hour conversation with Beloate, who joined his team during season 26 of The Voice. "Being able to have parents from all walks of life, whether it be two fathers, two mothers — whatever it is, love is the key."

The latest episode of Snoop's animated series sees Beloate voice a puppy named Zippy, who joins the Doggyland pups to sing "Love Is Love," a song that celebrates the love shared among families. The cast of characters is led by Snoop himself, who voices mentor character Bow Wizzle.
"Our parents are different / No two are the same / But the one thing that's for certain is the love won't change," the pups sing in the new tune, with several same-sex couples appearing on screen. "Families are special / They are so unique / Everybody's got a purpose, more than what you see / We love you, parents / We love you so."
Addressing the song during his chat with Beloate, Snoop said, "It's teaching parenthood. It's teaching situations that kids in the world is going through right now in a beautiful way through song, dance, melody, just trying to get more clarity on how we live and the way we live. And I felt like this music is a beautiful bridge to bringing understanding."
He added, "These are things that kids have questions about so now hopefully we can help answer these questions and help them to live a happy life and understand that love is love."
The latter comment appears to reference the controversial remarks that Snoop made back in August, after watching Pixar's Lightyear with his grandson. The "Gin and Juice" rapper sparked outrage for saying that he felt "scared to go to the movies" after his grandson started asking him questions about the lesbian couple that appears briefly in the 2022 film.
"Oh s---, I didn't come in for this s---. I just came to watch the goddamn movie," Snoop recalled during an interview with the It's Giving podcast. "These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They're going to ask questions. I don't have the answer."

Snoop did not directly address the controversy while announcing his GLAAD partnership, but did stress the importance of spreading love.
"At the end of the day, it's all about love — that's what we're teachin' the kids with 'Love Is Love,'" he said in a statement. "Partnering with GLAAD for Spirit Day just felt right, because spreading love and respect for everybody is what real gangstas do. We're showin' the next generation that kindness is cool, inclusion is powerful, and love always wins."
