The rapper was booked on charges of marijuana possession and unlawful possession of a firearm
The arrest came hours after the release of his studio album I Hope You're Happy
Hours after BigXthaPlug held an album release party, the rapper was arrested and booked in a Dallas County jail.
According to Dallas County Jail records viewed by PEOPLE, the rapper born Xavier Landum, 27, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 22 and booked on charges of marijuana possession (less than two ounces) and unlawful possession of a firearm at 2:20 a.m., following the release of his highly anticipated studio album I Hope You're Happy.
The night prior, the "Big Stepper" rapper revealed he was having an album release party at Cash Cow, a night club in Dallas, on Instagram.
A rep for BigX did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
I Hope You're Happy features 11 tracks and collaborations with Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, Shaboozey, Thomas Rhett, Ella Langley and more.

"This album's my heart, my story — the love, the loss, the heartbreak, the grind," he said in a press release.
BigX added, "I wanted people to feel it all with me, the highs, the lows, the real life that shapes you. I Hope You're Happy is me mixing my urban roots with that country soul, tellin' my story straight up, just me."
To coincide with the release of the album, BigX also released a music video for his collaboration with Jelly Roll titled "Box Me Up."
Days before the album release, the "Hit List" rapper celebrated the RIAA platinum certification for his 2024 album Take Care on social media. In the post, BigX revealed he "fell into the darkest hole I've ever been in."

"I questioned my purpose for life. I questioned my goals. I even questioned being on this very earth," he wrote on Instagram. "Depression and the life of being @bigxthaplug was moving faster then I could ever think of for the first time since I've been [an] artist. I let everything out and put it into this project."
BigX went on to thank his team for standing by his side as he made the project that "means more than what the world would ever know."
"They didn't just help me make this platinum album, they helped me SAVE MY LIFE," he continued. "Less than a year… No features… No major label… We PLATINUM!!! I thank you all for helping me achieve this … oh and TAKE CARE❤️🩹"
