Jude McAtamney wasn't the only reason the New York Giants blew a 19-0 fourth-quarter lead in Sunday's stunning, 33-32 loss to the Denver Broncos.
But he certainly didn't help. And now he's out of a job. Per multiple reports, the Giants waived McAtamney on Tuesday.
McAtamney kicked in four games for the Giants this season after full-time kicker Graham Gano suffered a groin injury in Week 3. On Sunday, McAtamney missed a second-quarter extra point that limited New York's lead to 13-0. Then in the fourth quarter, this happened.

The Broncos had rallied from a 19-0 fourth quarter deficit to take a 30-26 lead late. But the Giants responded with a 65-yard touchdown drive to retake the lead on a Jaxson Dart run with 37 seconds remaining.
The score gave the Giants a 32-30 lead. And McAtamney missed the extra point.

The Broncos then drove 56 yards in 35 seconds. And Wil Lutz put a 39-yard field goal through the uprights as time expired to secure the 33-32 Broncos win.

It was as shocking as a collapse gets in the NFL. And the math is not hard.
McAtamney's late miss allowed Lutz's field goal to be a game-winner instead of a game-tying effort. And if we're considering both extra point misses by McAtamney, New York theoretically could have been up by four points instead of two, deeming a late-game Broncos field goal moot.
The misses proved to be the final straw for McAtamney's Giants tenure after he previously missed an extra point in a Week 6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

McAtamney was never long for the Giants. Whenever Gano is healthy enough to be activated from injured reserve, the presumption is that he'll take the kicking job back. But the Giants have apparently seen enough of McAtamney, regardless of Gano's status.
The Giants also have veteran kicker Younghoe Koo on their practice squad. He'll presumably be promoted to kick for the Giants as long as Gano remains on injured reserve. Gano is eligible to return against the Eagles on Sunday, but his health status is not clear.
McAtamney, of course, didn't give up 33 fourth-quarter points to the Broncos. There's a lot more to fix in New York beyond its kicking game. But as of Tuesday, that's the move the Giants have made in response to Sunday's loss.
