Newly released footage from Jay Cutler's arrest just over one year ago shows the former NFL star refusing to take a field sobriety test.
The Franklin Police public affairs department released the footage of Cutler's arrest on Oct. 17, 2024 after he rear-ended another vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
The footage shows the interaction between Cutler, 42, the police officer and the driver of the vehicle. After speaking to both Cutler and the other driver, the officer approaches Cutler at his vehicle and asks how much alcohol he's consumed that day.
Initially, Cutler denies having had any alcohol, telling the officer "none" when asked, but after the policeman pushes him, Cutler admits he had "a little bit" of alcohol. When asked if he's willing to complete a sobriety test to determine if he's okay to drive, Cutler tells the officer, "No," and is immediately placed in handcuffs.

He plead guilty to the DUI charge on Aug. 26 before a Williamson County judge and was sentenced to four days in jail, plus a $350 fine. The weapon charge was dismissed in exchange for forfeiting the pistol.
Cutler served just two and a half out of his four days in jail and was released at the end of September.
The former Bears quarterback will also be on unsupervised probation for one year and must attend a DUI safety class. His Tennessee license has also been revoked.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the incident also sued Cutler, claiming the former NFL quarterback was at "fault" for the collision.
"Cutler failed to use reasonable and due care in the operation of the vehicle he was driving so as to avoid injury to other persons using the roadway," alleged attorney Sydney Pierce in the lawsuit obtained by PEOPLE, noting that Cutler was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The man is also seeking unspecified compensatory damages, claiming that he "suffered lost wages, loss of earning capacity, or other out-of-pocket expenses, or some combination thereof, as a direct and proximate result of the collision."
After his arrest, Cutler's ex-wife Kristin Cavallari spoke out, saying she hopes he "gets the help that he needs" on her podcast.
"Really quickly, just before we get into the episode, I wanted to hop on here and just let you guys know that this episode was recorded right before a very public incident happened last week with my ex-husband," said Cavallari, 38, who was married to Cutler for seven years before their divorce in 2020.
