James McAvoy is looking back on some of his most magical memories from the filming of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe — as well as who he bonded with the most on set.
While appearing on the X-Men Days of Future Cast panel at New York Comic-Con on Oct. 12, McAvoy, 46, spoke about his time making the 2005 fantasy film, which was adapted from the iconic C.S. Lewis novel by director Andrew Adamson.
During the conversation, the actor, who played fan-favorite Mr. Tumnus in the movie, revealed that one of his closest friends on set was actress Georgie Henley, with whom he shared a number of scenes. Henley, now 30, played 8-year-old Lucy, the youngest of the four Pevensie siblings.

"I think Andrew kind of, like, stuck us together," McAvoy recalled, adding, "Like, the director was a great guy — great director — just hoping we would get along a lot." He continued, "And she was a really young girl at the time. [...] I don't think she acted before, so [...] I just spent a lot of time with Georgie and her family, and they were really lovely."
The Speak No Evil star went on to say that being on the set of such an expansive fantasy project felt "bonkers" at the time. "Just being on the little sets is bonkers," he told the Comic-Con audience. "You get used to things, but I was like, 'Oh! Oh!' You know what I mean?"

He also said that filming before the age of smartphones enhanced the particularly magical experience of it all. "I don't think you were texting and stuff back then. It's like you were just alone with it, you know? Maybe I'd phone home once a day or something. But, [...] you're in New Zealand, so you're like on another planet," he said.
McAvoy also gave a "shout out" to the film's makeup department, which he said provided one of the best on-set experiences he's ever had. "They were, like, my absolute rocks. And to this day, one of the, like, most fun and closest relationships with anybody I've had on a set really, because we spent so much time together," the actor shared.
McAvoy added, "I remember being in like trailers halfway up a mountain at 3:30 in the morning, and you're like, 'The ADs aren't here yet.' Like, 'The trailers haven't been unlocked.' And we're there early enough to get the makeup done. [...] So, yeah, they were an incredible crew."
