It took seven attempts, but the Los Angeles Dodgers finally beat the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025. It couldn't have come at a better time, either. With a 2-1 win on Monday, Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead in the National League Championship Series.
It was a significant development for the Dodgers, who lost all six regular-season games against the Brewers earlier in the year. The Dodgers, however, battled injuries throughout much of the regular season. With the team close to full health in the playoffs, the Dodgers finally pulled out a win.
But it wasn't easy. Following a dominant start by Blake Snell, the Dodgers nearly collapsed in the final inning. A lead-off double and two walks loaded the bases for Milwaukee. But with the tying run sitting just 90 feet away, the Brewers couldn't get the job done.

While it was a disappointing loss for Milwaukee, it was also proof that both teams are evenly matched. The Brewers can go out and prove as much Tuesday, when they take on the Dodgers for Game 2 in the series.
Milwaukee will send ace Freddy Peralta to the mound against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, so it promises to be an entertaining contest.

RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto will take the mound starting for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night for the first time since Game 3 of the NLDS against the Phillies, where Philadelphia walked away with an 8-2 win.

He'll be hoping for better results this time, having given up six hits, three earned runs and a walk over four innings pitched in that start. He and Clayton Kershaw, who pitched two innings in relief that game, combined for seven earned runs and 12 hits, and Yamamoto was credited with the loss.
That outing aside, Yamamoto holds a 12-8 record in 2025, with a 2.49 ERA and 201:59 K:BB ratio.
