Jodie Foster was once the youngest host of *Saturday Night Live*, and her memories of the experience range from the surreal to the sticky.**

The *True Detective *star hosted *SNL *on Nov. 27, 1976, just after her 14th birthday, making her the youngest person to host until Drew Barrymore at age 7 in 1982 (a record that still stands to this day). The musical guest for the season 2 episode was the late Brian Wilson, who Foster remembers mostly for being barefoot in a sandbox.**

"He didn't talk to anybody. He was in his trailer, you know, he wasn't well, particularly," she tells ** at the recent Toronto International Film Festival of the Beach Boys singer, who suffered through years of heavy drug use and depression. "He came with his minder...so I didn't ever talk to him, but I saw [him]. I don't even think he came to rehearsal."**

She recalls, "They put him in a sandbox. And his piano was in the sandbox and he had no shoes on and then [*SNL *boss] Lorne Michaels was like, 'You're gonna do "Good Vibrations" all by yourself.' It was just him and the piano singing 'Good Vibrations,' which was kind of weird, like one person singing 'Good Vibrations.'"

Though Foster already had dozens of TV credits under her belt and months later would be an Oscar-nominated actress for *Taxi Driver, *hosting *SNL *was not without its hiccups.**

"My bad memory of that is that right before I went on, like maybe a half an hour before I went on, I had what was called an Orange Julius," she shares of the frothy citrus drink. "I had a big Orange Julius and it fell all over my pants. And they were like, 'Well, we don't have time to [change],' so, the whole [monologue], I was sticky."

Foster appears energetic but nervous in her monologue, clad in a khaki San Francisco Giants shirt, knee-high brown boots, and dark jeans that luckily don't betray her spill from before the cameras started rolling.**

That was the first and only time the *Silence of the Lambs *star hosted, and she can't actually recall if there was ever a second invite.

"I may have been asked, but I've never done it again," she says.
