Thanks to South Park's increasingly wacky release schedule, we haven't seen or heard from Randy Marsh since way back in late August, given that just three episodes have aired since Season 27's "Sickofancy."
That episode answered some fans' prayers by closing the book on the Marshes' time at Tegridy Farms. As we've mentioned before, a lot of viewers were sick and tired of Stan and his family being tethered to Randy's weed farm business for the past seven years. At the end of "Sickofancy," a now ketamine-addicted Randy decides to sell the farm since ICE abducted all of his employees and his ill-conceived tech start-up "Techridy" failed (despite its promises to provide an "A.I.-powered marijuana platform for global solutions."
But those same fans who celebrated the end of Tegridy Farms may be bummed out to discover where the Marshes are now living.
In one of the promotional photos for this week's episode, "The Woman in the Hat," it appears as though the family has moved in with Stan's grandpa Marvin, who currently resides in the Looming Sunset Assisted Living retirement center. Randy, Sharon, Stan and Shelley appear to be sleeping on cots in the not-so-spacious room. And the cot that seems to belong to either Shelley or Stan is inconveniently placed right next to Grampa Marvin's bedside commode.
On social media, a number of people were pretty upset that the Marshes were crashing at a senior's residence and not going back to their original house.
To be fair, we did see Randy put the house up for sale back in Season 22, when he first purchased Tegridy Farms. While we never saw anyone else move in, presumably someone bought the house at some point. Considering that Cartman and his mom eventually got their house back after shacking up in a giant hot dog for a time, there's still hope that the Marshes could return to their previous home at some point.
Nevertheless, it's extremely depressing that Randy has been forced to move into his dad's overly-cramped quarters for the time being. This development is just the latest example of Trey Parker and Matt Stone being particularly hard on certain characters this year, following Towelie's new role as a White House cumrag and Jesus' transformation into a toxic MAGA bro.
But Randy's fate is an especially sad turn of events considering that he was once an international pop music superstar.
