Kate McKinnon, 41, may have left Saturday Night Live in May 2022, but she's still got a treasure trove of hilarious stories to share with fans from her time on the hit late-night sketch show. While chatting with fellow SNL alum Amy Poehler, 54, she revealed one of her favorite guest hosts: 62-year-old legendary NBA pro Charles Barkley.

"Did Charles Barkley even host when you were there?" McKinnon asked Poehler on the Oct. 28 episode of her Good Hang with Amy podcast. "Oh my god. Now, there's a funny athlete. Jesus Christ. He may be the funniest man alive," she added, with her signature deadpan expression.
The pair even shared an uncomfortably intimate moment during their 2018 "Last Call" sketch, where they play two cringeworthy bar patrons organizing a hookup at a bar. The sketch includes awkward pickup lines like "Have you ever seen that show Naked and Afraid... if you play your cards right, I'll make you both," and shows the two making out while wearing lip retractors.

"I did do one of my barfly sketches with him, so his tongue has been in my mouth," McKinnon recalled. "And I... it was nice," she joked.
Fans had mixed reactions to McKinnon's high praise, with one commenter saying, "Charles Barkley is one of those people who are effortlessly funny," while another disagreed, writing, "She's being sarcastic, no? Not that Charles hasn't been hilarious elsewhere."
The former baller has appeared on SNL a whopping five times; he hosted four times in 1993, 2010, 2012, and 2018, and made a guest appearance in an April 2020 SNL at Home episode during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Barkley seems to be a favorite among the main cast, with David Spade also saying he was "great" and "a lot of fun" on the show in a 2025 podcast episode. He might be so well-liked because he's admitted that he's "willing to try anything," including "making fun of himself" on the comedy show, and he's proven that time and time again.
