The retired NBA star also revealed that it's the "only" beauty treatment he will do with his wife, who he previously told PEOPLE exclusively has a multi-step routine that "100%" surpasses his own.

"I think one thing, the only thing that we do, we share the same facialist," Wade, 43, told PEOPLE exclusively of the Being Mary Jane actress, 52, when speaking about his latest role as a face and ambassador of Intuition by Aramis.

"We take care of our skin," Wade continued of the self-care he and his wife of 11 years prioritize together, adding, "Every time she gets a facial, I'm right there behind her."

The superstar athlete, who was selected fifth overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat and solidified his status as a basketball icon throughout his 16-year career that followed, credits the actress for turning his attention to the skincare practice.

"It was something that I saw her doing and I was like, 'All right, well, let me try it'," he recalled of Union.

He then shared that his own ventures on-screen after his 2019 retirement from the NBA further caused him to place a focus on his outward appearance.

"I was getting on TV and I was like, hold on. I want my skin to look a little better, so it just became a part of my regime now," shared the NBA All-Star, who's made a pivot to broadcast in the years since hanging up his jersey.

Wade is slated to join Amazon Prime Video, which will air NBA games for the first time this season. His role will rotate between in-game commentator and studio analyst, both of which he has experience in doing for sporting events in the past.

As for how often Wade and Union get facials together amid their respectively busy schedules in sports and entertainment?

"It's like an every few weeks thing... Dropping in, getting different facials," he explained of their routine, nothing that the pro "is incredible."

Prioritizing his own well-being wasn't always the case case for Wade, who built his legacy as a star shooting and point guard in the NBA, where he spent the majority of his time on the Heat with quick Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers stints.

"When I played basketball, it was all about winning. It was all about success," he told PEOPLE exclusively when thinking back on his illustrious career on the court.

Now, Wade — who's the father to five kids Dahveon, 21, Zaire, 23, Zaya, 18, Xavier, 11, and Kaavia, 6 — considers self-care an "extension" of himself as he's learned to find success in "substance" outside of basketball.

His latest venture into the scent space with Intuition by Aramis, for example, is one of those ways.

"It's been a world that I've tried to be in for a very long time," said Wade, explaining, "I've always prided myself on fragrance, how I smell and what I use to enhance even my own natural body scent."

He concluded, "The name represented who I am. I felt it was the perfect relationship."
