Sound the alarm: The world of 9-1-1: Lone Star survives!
The 9-1-1 universe's first spinoff ended its five-season run on Fox earlier this year, but a character from the Austin-set series got namechecked on 9-1-1: Nashville season 1, episode 4 on Thursday.
The reference occurred after new recruit Blue Bennnings (Hunter McVey) was caught on camera making a daring rescue at a waterpark.
"Your boy Blue went viral. Four million likes," Ryan Hart (Michael Provost) told his dad/fire captain Don (Chris O'Donnell) of their colleague, who is also Don's son and Ryan's half-brother.
Then Ryan explained how his stepbrother got so much online attention: "Firefox down in Austin shared it. It's blowing up. They're calling him #HotTarzan."
Ryan wasn't referring to the search engine, but rather the nickname of Marjan (Natacha Karam), a Lone Star character who became a social media star for similar heroics.
The Firefox mention comes a week after a full-on crossover with Nashville's 911 dispatcher Cammie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) appearing on the mothership 9-1-1, helping Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) connect with Athena (Angela Bassett) and Hen (Aisha Hinds) in space. Yes, space.
So will we see more crossovers moving forward? Or actually see Lone Star characters return to the franchise?
9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear has told Entertainment Weekly, "I think the network would love" crossovers and, unprompted, told us, "I adore [Lone Star actress] Gina Torres, and will hopefully work with her again soon."

If the call comes, Lone Star lead Rob Lowe is ready. "I'm just waiting for my phone to ring," he said recently to Decider — noting that his brother Chad Lowe serves as an executive producer and director on Nashville.
9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville air on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET, respectively.
