Homelander, is that you?

Antony Starr, who plays the supervillain on the Prime Video series *The Boys*, is trading in his cape for a white-haired wig and spectacles to play artist Andy Warhol.

Starr will play the Campbell's soup-depicting icon in the upcoming *Samo Lives*, a biopic about Jean-Michel Basquiat. Images from the set of the film, below, show Starr's transformation, and it's a far cry from Homelander, the narcissistic, buff, overly coifed *Boys* character he's become known for.

Directed by Julius Onah and written for the screen by Onah and Peter Glanz, *Samo Lives*, per Deadline, "tells the story of Basquiat's rise in the New York City art scene as he reckons with his past and future — all with the vibrancy and invention found in his groundbreaking neo-expressionistic style."

Warhol and Basquiat were first introduced in 1982 by Warhol's art dealer Bruno Bischofberger. Despite being somewhat of an unexpected pairing, Warhol and Basquiat would collaborate on over 150 different works together in addition to working on their own art. Their unlikely friendship ended in February 1987, when Warhol died suddenly after a complicated gall bladder operation. Basquiat died of an overdose 18 months later.

Filming for the biopic has already wrapped. In addition to Starr, the film features Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Basquiat, and Jeffrey Wright, who interestingly enough played the artist himself in Julian Schnabel's 1996 film *Basquiat*.

In addition to *Samo Lives*, Starr has the fifth and final season of *The Boys* coming up. When filming for that wrapped earlier this year, Starr shared an emotional farewell message to the superhero TV series on his Instagram.

"Been waiting a little to let things settle and try and process the end of this show," he wrote in the post, which also included pictures of himself in character with his fellow cast members.

He continued, adding that it's "difficult (for me) to put into words what an incredible ride this has been. How much life and growth has occurred. How amazing the team is," calling the experience "the highlight" of his career to date.**

"I love this show. And I love this character. Truly. I will dearly miss heading to work, knowing what we were aiming for but never knowing where we would find ourselves by the end of the day…only that we would have fun and it would be creatively rewarding in the extreme," he added. "This complicated character allowed the space and range to discover and push boundaries in a way I never expected and I will always be grateful for this experience."

*The Boys* season 5 finished filming and will likely premiere in 2026 on Amazon's Prime Video. A release date for *Samo Lives* has not been announced.
