The dog had a long battle with cancer that led to her leg being amputated

Sheamus' wife, Isabella, called Betty her "soul dog" and wrote a touching tribute highlighting the dog's happiness and silly personality

WWE star Stephen Farrelly, professionally known as Sheamus, took to his social media to pen a touching note to his dog, Betty, who died from her long battle with cancer.

The heartwarming tribute was posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with a 20-slide carousel of photos og Betty with Sheamus, his wife Isabella Revilla-Farrelly, his fellow WWE stars backstage and casual outings, including a stadium soccer match.

"Over four and a half years ago, I saw this chunky little pup at the National Humane Association," the caption began, "a dog who had been discarded by her owners. I instantly knew she was coming home with me."

Sheamus added that it's been "an incredible journey," although their "time together was cut far too short." He said Betty brought so joy and happiness to the family and to everything the dog met.

"Even after losing her leg, she never lost her spirit," he wrote. "She was still just as happy, just to be home, surrounded by love."

Isabella also wrote a tribute to Betty on her account, noting that Betty died in their home in Tennessee, following lyrics from Lady Gaga's "Joanne."

"The love of my life and light in my heart gained her angel wings this evening at 6:36pm as the sun set over our Nashville home," she wrote. "Oh Betty, you were my whole world for 4 years, 9 months, and 7 days. That may seem short, but it felt like I'd known you my whole life. Now I don't know how the rest of it can go on without you."

Isabella, who's been married to Sheamus since 2022, went on to call the dog her best friend and even her "soul dog" like a soulmate and chronicles Betty's many adventures, including "a soccer game, in a wrestling ring, on the road with the WWE, multiple farmer's markets & cafes across two different states, and she's been outside of a Taylor Swift concert (she was named after a Taylor song, after all)."

In the touching note, Isabella admired Betty's joy, happiness and silliness, writing, "Cancer took her leg and more but it never took her spirit," before closing the tribute with Thank you for making our family whole. I will find you in every lifetime. Mommy's got you, always."
