US singer Mario attends the BET Awards 2025 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on June 9, 2025.
R&B artist Mario cleared the air amid online backlash after viral videos showed him booting a cameraman off stage during a recent show in California.
The interaction occurred during the "Let Me Love You" singer's set at "R&B Night Out" at The Big Fresno Fair on Saturday, Oct. 11.
In several videos circulating online, Mario is performing his hit song, "Braid My Hair," when he tells the cameraman, "Get the (expletive) off the stage" multiple times before continuing his performance. It prompted backlash from fans on social media.
"Yea, that's unnecessary," one user said. Another person added, "Well that just made him UNATTRACTIVE." A third person chimed in: "uncalled for and unprofessional!"

Mario explains situation in Instagram post
In a statement on Tuesday, Oct. 14, Mario clarified that he arrived at the event 10 minutes before his set and was not notified that the cameraman would be on the stage with him.
"Multiple times while seeing the cameraman through my peripheral, I got distracted, and one time almost tripped over the speaker trying to make sure I'm not walking in the same direction as him," he explained in the Instagram post.
Mario continued, "He was too far down stage. A cameraman is not supposed to be that far down stage unless he's with you and shooting you that close for a reason. It really can throw you off."
