Sydney Sweeney is aware of the Bond girl discourse — and she's ready to weigh in.

In a Variety story published on Monday, the Euphoria actress vaguely addressed rumors about her possible involvement in the forthcoming James Bond film from Amazon MGM Studios.

"I can't. [Seven-second pause.] I don't know. [Ten-second pause.] To be honest, I don't know all the Bond rumors, but I've always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I'm excited and curious to see what they do with it," she told the outlet.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos reportedly wants Sweeney to play a Bond girl in the 2028 film, according to Variety. But whether she wants to join the project depends on the story itself.

"Depends on the script," Sweeney told Variety. "I think I'd have more fun as James Bond."

Plans to develop a 26th installment were set in motion when Amazon MGM Studios, which acquired the franchise's rights in 2022, was granted full creative control by longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson in February 2025. Public filings revealed that Amazon MGM Studios paid Eon Productions, which is owned by Broccoli and Wilson, $20 million for creative control of the 007 series.

More details have emerged in recent months regarding the new Amazon-helmed James Bond era. Dune and Dune: Part Two director Dennis Villeneuve, for instance, was announced as the upcoming film's director in June, and House of Guinness creator Steven Knight was unveiled as its screenwriter in July.

Villeneuve will reportedly commence his search for the actor who will play the famed fictional spy in 2026, after he finishes production on Dune: Part Three, according to a Deadline report from September. The Canadian director is reportedly seeking a "fresh face" from the British Isles, which puts rumors that Bullet Train actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson could take over as the famed spy to rest.

At this time, there don't appear to be any constraints on where the Bond girl should hail from, which means Sweeney, a Spokane, Wash., native, is still in the running. That Amazon MGM Studios is producing the film, and Villeneuve is directing it, seems to bolster speculation that Sweeney is a serious candidate for the coveted role.

Speculation surrounding whether or not Sweeney may take her turn as a Bond girl reached a fever pitch in June, when she was spotted at Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's star-studded wedding in Venice. A July report from the U.S. Sun suggested that Sweeney is "the top name on the casting sheet for Bond," and that Villeneuve is vying for her to join the project.

"Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernizing the franchise," the outlet's source said. "They've hung out together a lot, and he has admired her stratospheric rise."

Sweeney, who stars in the biographical sports drama Christy, which hits theaters in December, remains booked and busy. Next up, she'll star in the Paul Feig-directed drama The Housemaid, which is also out this winter; she's set to reprise her role as Cassie Howard in the upcoming third and final season of Euphoria, which premieres in spring 2026; and she'll appear in the upcoming films I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl and the untitled Gundam movie.
