Imelda strengthened into a hurricane early Tuesday and was forecast to head away from the Bahamas and southeastern U.S. and toward Bermuda, according to the Miami-based National Hurricane Center.

Imelda is the ninth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. It formed on Sunday in the western Atlantic.

Hurricane Imelda forecast maps

As of Tuesday night, Imelda's center was located 565 miles west-southwest of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, making it a Category 1 hurricane. It was moving east-northeast at 15 mph, the hurricane center said.

"On the forecast track, the center of the hurricane will approach Bermuda Wednesday afternoon," the hurricane center said, adding: "Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so."

Anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected across Bermuda from Wednesday into Thursday, which could lead to flash flooding, the NHC said. A dangerous storm surge is also expected to produce coastal flooding in Bermuda "in areas of onshore winds," the hurricane center said, adding that the surge "will be accompanied by large and damaging waves."

Swells generated by Imelda and Hurricane Humberto, farther out in the Atlantic, "are affecting the Bahamas and are currently spreading to much of the U.S. East Coast. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions," forecasters said.

Warnings and watches for Imelda

A hurricane warning is in effect for Bermuda, meaning hurricane conditions are expected to occur there within 36 hours.

A tropical storm warning for the northwestern Bahamas was canceled Monday night.

Imelda follows Hurricane Humberto

Imelda comes on the heels of Hurricane Humberto, which rapidly intensified to a major hurricane over the Atlantic on Saturday but is not expected to reach land. Humberto reached as high as a Category 5 on Saturday before beginning to weaken. Tuesday morning, it was a Category 2 with sustained winds of about 100 mph.

Forecasters said last week there was a small possibility the two systems could interact, creating what is known as a Fujiwhara effect, a rare phenomenon in which two different storms merge and become entangled around a newly formed, common center. However, they said it wasn't considered a likely outcome in this case.

Newly released records from Utah's Summit County Sheriff's Office appear to suggest the man accused of attacking a church in Michigan over the weekend had been arrested in Utah in 2010.

According to an incident report and mugshot obtained by Scripps News, Thomas Jacob Sanford was arrested for driving under the influence after leaving a bar on March 12, 2010.

A man with the same name and date of birth crashed his truck into a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, on Sunday. Police say he then shot several people, set the building on fire, before being killed in a shootout with officers.

The Utah incident report from 2010 described Sanford as driving in a vehicle that was "bouncing back and forth (side to side) in his lane."

During the traffic stop, the officer conducted field sobriety tests on Sanford. He described Sanford as having eyes that were "fairly blood shot and glossy." The officer also noted that Sanford appeared to have a balance problem.

"Based on the driving pattern I observed, time of night (bar closing time frame), Sanford's field sobriety test observations and his breath sample, I placed Sanford under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence," the officer wrote.

According to the report, a breath test at the jail returned a .181 result.

Sanford "admitted to have (sic) been drinking beer...and said that he had two, but they were 'stronger' beers. He also said he had beers at his house before going out," the officer wrote.

Robyn Y.

Robyn Y's Tiny Home Community in Texas -

Robyn, 70, used $150,000 from her 401(k) to create The Bird's Nest, an all-women tiny home community in Cumby, Texas

The neighborhood houses women ages 60 to 80 who support one another through companionship, errands, and care

With over 500 applicants for just 14 vacancies, the viral community has become a model of affordable and supportive senior living

On a quiet stretch of Cumby, Texas, something unexpected is blooming: a village of women who have found a second chance at community.

On five acres of open land, tiny houses line the property like puzzle pieces, each holding a story of independence, resilience and connection — and the internet can't get enough.

At the center of it all is 70-year-old Robyn, who looked at her retirement savings and decided to build something extraordinary.

Robyn Y.

The Bird's Nest community in Texas

"I bought a tiny house and lived in a tiny house community, and then decided, hey, I could do some passive income with my 401(k)," Robyn tells PEOPLE, describing the first spark of an idea that would soon take flight as The Bird's Nest.

The Bird's Nest now houses 11 women between the ages of 60 and 80, most of them single, divorced or widowed. Rent starts at $450 a month, but what they're really buying is companionship and a built-in support system that's rare to find in traditional retirement settings.

Getting there wasn't easy. "The first thing was finding the property," Robyn shares. "Tiny houses are not allowed in many areas… it has to be unincorporated land."

That meant months of searching for land that wasn't too remote but still affordable enough to make her dream possible. "We're zoned as an RV park," she explains, "so I kept expanding outside of Dallas to see where I could get."

Robyn ultimately invested $150,000 from her 401(k) to build 14 tiny homes, a leap that would make most people pause. "I'm not a person that dwells on what ifs," she notes. "I had the need, and I knew that the money in there would not help me in retirement... so I just took a leap of faith."

Robyn Y.

Robyn (black shirt) and her family

Faith has since turned into a thriving neighborhood where mornings begin with coffee under a pavilion the residents call their "kitchen." "I'm really the early riser, so I'm the first one up," Robyn says. "I go out to our kitchen pavilion, have my coffee, let my dogs run... and there's always a lot of work to do maintaining the property."

Her days are spent mowing, cutting sunflowers and sharing meals, but evenings are sacred. "We all eventually gather in the evenings, every night, it seems," Robyn says. "Just to touch base with everybody... see how their day went."

That daily rhythm is anchored by a simple but powerful rule: no drama. "Anything that we have, you have to come out and discuss it," Robyn explains. "We end the conversation with, 'No feelings hurt. This is just my perspective.' "

The approach has created a culture of honesty and respect, where grievances are aired directly and relationships remain strong. "We have to respect each other, and we all do," she says, her voice clear with conviction.

Demand for this kind of living has soared far beyond what Robyn imagined. Out of 14 pads, only one was left at the time of the interview — and more than 500 women were already on the waiting list. "It's almost like a first-come, first-served that has all the boxes checked," she says, admitting the selection process is still evolving.

But once a woman joins, she becomes part of a web of care that extends well beyond shared chores. "If somebody has surgery, we just had a neighbor with knee surgery, we all took turns taking her to physical therapy, providing meals, running to the store," Robyn shares. "We can read each other. Somebody will come out and go, 'Hey, are you okay?' "

That intuitive care, born from spending each day together, has surprised Robyn as much as anyone. "I don't think I realized what my role would be," she admits. "I want everything to work. I want everybody to be happy... and it's not a burden, but it's on my mind."

Over time, she's even discovered new sides of herself. "I don't ever think — thought — I was an empath, but being here, I think I am," Robyn admits, reflecting on how deeply she feels the emotions of her neighbors.

Still, she balances that softness with a refreshing directness. "If people ask a question, I tell the truth," she says with a small laugh. "Sometimes that's not what they're looking for, you know, but I am."

Robyn Y.

Robyn's community having a lovely time in front of one of the tiny homes

That honesty, even when it stings, has become another layer of trust in the community. "I have hurt feelings, and then I come back and go, 'Look, I'm just stating how I feel and how I see things,' " Robyn explains. "To me, that's a true friend."

The Bird's Nest has also become a model — one that people across the country are now looking to replicate. "I think it can be replicated absolutely for other age groups," Robyn says. "But I don't think it would be quite the same community."

Part of that difference, she believes, comes down to age and lifestyle. "Younger people, everybody's working, everybody's on the move," Robyn says. "I think there would be a lot more drama. A younger crowd might not be quite as close-knit as we are."

For now, the community's makeup feels just right. "The majority, 80 to 89 percent of tiny home dwellers are retired women," Robyn observes. "That's who this works for."

And for those women, The Bird's Nest offers more than just affordability — it offers a second family. They check in on each other when someone seems down, share lunches and laughter, and sit together in the fading Texas light.

Robyn Y.

A look into The Bird's Nest

"We are a community," Robyn shares. "It's all about women empowering women. We can't knock women down. We have to embrace each other and take the extra step to be kind."

As for the future, Robyn is honest about her uncertainty. "I hope that other people see all of this, all the buzz, and that they try to replicate and do one," she says. "But when we are all gone, the original OGs... I don't think it will be maintained, because I won't be here."

Even the name of the community reflects Robyn's humor and heart. "Because of my name. I'm Robyn. What else could it be?" she says with a smile.

And maybe that's what makes The Bird's Nest so resonant: a vision born of one woman's leap of faith, rooted in kindness and courage, now spreading its wings across the imagination of thousands. For the women who live there, it isn't just housing. It's home.

CLAIBORNE PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Omega Reed Matthews, a native of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, is set to celebrate a momentous occasion, her 100th birthday.

Omega Reed Matthews Claiborne Parish Centenarian

Her granddaughter, Christina Matthews-Saunders, shares with us the details of her grandmother's full century on this Earth and her connection to early Claiborne settlers.

Omega Reed was born to Judge and Sudie Reed in Haynesville, Louisiana, on September 27, 1925.

Her family says Matthews is the youngest of twelve and the last surviving great-grandchild of Lemiah Christopher Columbus Adkins a Claiborne farm owner and a slave named Mariah.

Lemiah Christopher Columbus Adkins swapped room and board for artwork of Hungry traveler

She is also the last surviving grandchild of slaves Elijah Adkins Reed and Amanda Reed.

Her grandfather, Elijah, told his children and grandchildren how the Adkins family and their slaves came to settle in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, around 1852, after one of the ox-driven wagons they were traveling in broke down on the way from Georgia to Texas.

Omega's Paternal Grandparents Elijah Adkins Reed & Amanda (Whitt) Reed

Matthews's grandparents were only in their early twenties when slavery was abolished.

She says, "My father was a member of a Caucasian family…and he always taught us to treat others as you wish them to treat you. He taught us to love our family."

A key lesson from her parents she has continued to carry throughout her life.

Omega Reed's Parents Judge & Sudie Reed

When her father died in 1944, Matthews's siblings relocated the then nineteen-year-old to Los Angeles, California.

When asked what it was like moving from the family-owned farm in Homer, Louisiana, to the city of Los Angeles, Matthews says the decision was based on survival, "Well, it wasn't easy, right? But I knew that I couldn't stay there by myself. I wasn't old enough, and I needed the assistance of my elder siblings."

With every challenge that came her way, Matthews always rose to the occasion, adjusting to life in the big city with grace and determination. "I didn't want to be a burden on [siblings]. I was always a little independent, maybe a little too independent, but I wanted to earn my own way," she explained.

Matthews's search for independence led her to become an inspector for an aircraft parts manufacturer. This was something many of her descendants were unaware of until nearly twenty years ago.

"I remember several of us being in shock reading the program created for her 80th birthday celebration. We had no idea that Grandma had ever worked outside of the home," her granddaughter, Christina Matthews, shared. "It was not until I decided to update her bio and saw the program again after all of these years that I realized the significance of her job. 'Grandma you're a living Rosie the Riveter, and you never told us,' I said."

The remarks come as a reminder of the time period.

Christina says that when she asked Matthews if she knew how amazing what she had done to help the country during World War II was, her answer was "well, no." Matthews states, "I was just doing what I thought was right and needed to be done at the time."

Like a lot of women during the 1940s and 50s, Matthews's time in the workforce was relatively short.

After traveling from Los Angeles to Dayton, Ohio, to assist her sister Amanda with her young children for what was intended to be a short-term stay, she met and married Herbert Matthews Sr. in 1947.

Omega & Herbert's Wedding Day, February 27, 1947

Her family says while being a wife and mother, Matthews continued to be a beacon in the Dayton community.

Omega & Herbert Matthews with Eldest 4 Children 1957

From attending PTA meetings to opening her home to family and friends, to serving as pianist and organist at her church to her work as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she has impacted many lives.

As for the secret to living long enough to become a centenarian, Matthews says, "God does that. We do what we know we should do and then let go and let God."

Taking the lead on family reunions for over six decades and establishing block parties in her Edgemont community, her family plans to surprise her with her very own block party to celebrate her milestone birthday.

The Gist -

The third house is the portion of your birth chart that rules communication, intellect, and technology.

The third house is also associated with local networks, neighborhoods, and sibling relationships.

Your communication and thinking style will be influenced by the planets and signs in your third house.

If you've ever taken a look at the zodiac wheel, or even your own birth chart, you may have noticed the wheel is divided into 12 sections. These are the "houses" of your chart, and just like the signs and planets in astrology all have their associated themes and qualities, the 12 houses each govern certain areas of our life.

In the case of the third house, this is the portion of your birth chart that rules communication, intellect, technology, and more. It influences the way we think, how we convey those thoughts, and has even more nuance based on which signs and planets are in the third house.

Here, we're diving into everything you about this part of your birth chart, including how to find your third house, what it means if you have certain planets in the third house, and of course, what to expect when a planet is moving through it.

How to Find Your Third House

In order to find your third house, you'll need to pull up your birth chart, which will require your birthday, exact birth time, and birthplace. (Here's how to do that, if you don't have your chart already!)

From there, take a look at where 9 o'clock on a clock would be. The zodiac sign at this point is your rising sign, and also marks your first house of self and identity. Moving counterclockwise to where 8 o'clock would be, the next portion of your chart is the second house of money, material resources, and self-worth. And next to that? You guessed it—that's your third house.

The sign that is on the cusp of your third house is the sign that rules the house. If your third house is ruled by Scorpio, for instance, your communication and thinking styles might be a bit more mysterious, sleuthy, intense, or even skeptical.

What the Third House RepresentsCommunication

The third house is first and foremost the house of communication, governing the way we articulate our thoughts and communicate with others. This includes speaking, but also written communication like texting, social media, etc.

Intellect

The third house is an airy and mental realm, influencing the way our thoughts move, how we process and understand life, and even our own mental faculties. Fittingly, this house is also associated with the learning and skill building of our childhoods.

Technology

Associated with messenger Mercury, the third house rules technology—and all the ways communication and technology intersect. Think messaging, the internet, electronic devices, etc.

Getty Images

Siblings

The third house is closely related to our younger years, past infancy but not yet teenaged. As such, it relates to sibling relationships and our earliest experiences with socializing, communicating, and playing nice with others.

Local community

Finally, as one of the more social parts of the zodiac wheel, the third house ties us to our local communities and networks. It's associated with local travel, neighborhoods, and the neighbors within them.

Associated Signs and Planets

The 12 houses each have an associated zodiac sign, going in the same order as the zodiac signs themselves. Aries is the first sign of the astrological year, for example, so Aries is associated with the first house. Taurus comes next, and is associated with the second house.

Next up, of course, is loquacious Gemini—and if you know a thing or two about Gemini, it only makes sense that this chatty sign would rule the third house of communication. Gemini definitely has the gift of gab, but is also a highly intelligent and intellectual sign.

Gemini is ruled by Mercury, after all, the planet of communication and information. And that means the third house is associated with all things mercurial as well.

What Planets in the Third House Mean

Sun in the third house: With the sun in the third house, communication and intellect are strong but changeable. Individuals with this placement might struggle with anxiousness and/or consistency in their personality.

Moon in the third house: The moon in the third house results in someone with deep thoughts and even deeper reflections, placing high importance on mental connection with others. Just watch out for intellectualizing emotions.

Mercury in the third house: Mercury is associated with the third house, so it feels very much at home here. These people are social, witty, chatty, and curious—if not a bit frenetic or flaky.

Venus in the third house: With the planet of love in the third house, intellectual connection, flirting, and variety are of utmost importance. You'll be attracted to "character-types" who bring excitement or variety to your life.

Mars in the third house: Mars is the planet of action, so when it's in the third house, individuals may be aggressive communicators. It's also the planet that rules sex, however, so Mars in the third house is very much giving sapiosexual.

Keep in mind, even if you don't have any planets in your third house, it will still always have a zodiac sign ruling it, which will further influence the expression of this part of your birth chart.

Getty Images

What to Expect if a Transit Is Occurring in Your Third House

Whenever a planet moves through a particular house in your birth chart, that area of your life will be influenced. So when a planet moves through your third house, it can impact your communication style, how you're processing thoughts and information, and even your sibling and/or local relationships.

If Venus was transiting your third house, for example, your communication style might take a softer, more loving tone. If it's Mars, on the other hand, you might find yourself being more combative or contrarian.

Frequently asked Questions

What does the 3rd house represent?

The third house in astrology represents communication, information, intellect, technology, local networks and neighborhoods, sibling connections, and our early childhood learning.

What zodiac sign rules the 3rd house?

The third house is ruled by Gemini, and by extension, the planet Mercury.

Money can buy you almost anything. But it's only when you become truly rich that you begin to realize the breadth and depth of the products and services you can spend your cash on. Entire swathes of jobs exist solely to service the ultra-wealthy.

In a captivating thread on AskReddit, people shared the industries that revolve entirely around catering to the whims of the rich. We've collected some of their most intriguing insights to share with you. Scroll down below to take a peek at what life as one of the elite looks like.

Bored Panda got in touch with the author of the intriguing thread, and they were kind enough to share their thoughts on wealth and other priorities with us. You'll find our full interview with them below!

#1

This is a sort of related story. When I worked at Home Depot, two men came in looking for a jigsaw. The one guy looked like he probably had money, but had worked his way up the blue collar ladder to get there. The other guy, really had money, Rolex watch, expensive suit, shoes that cost more than I made in a month, etc. it seemed to me like they had been friends for a long time or maybe they were brothers. And guy one was taking guy two out shopping for a tool as a new, lets me show you how regular people do things, type of experience. They came and asked me about the different jigsaws, guy one didn't really need my help, but all this was new to guy two. So he let it play out and was kind of coaching guy two. It was interesting to watch, almost like a father teaching a young kid how to shop, and get help from the employee. Anyway at the end of all this guy two pick the jigsaw he wants, and says. "Okay, I'll take this one, can you wrap it up and have it taken out to my car?" I look at him for a second, and then look at his friend, who is trying not to laugh, he says "no, no, no, that's not how it works, we just take it off the shelf and go to the register and buy it." He takes one and hands it to him, then says, "let me show you how to pay for this up front" and they walk away. What's super crazy is about 10 minutes later they come back and I ask them if there is anything else they need, and the rich guy reaches into is pocket and pull out a money clip, peels off a twenty and starts to hand it to me, saying "thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it" His buddy is like "dude no, he probably can't take a tip, that's not how this works" and looks at me with a bit of awkward panic on his face. I said, no, I'm not allowed to take tips, but if you want, you can put that twenty in a donation jar somewhere. And I was happy to help" It was one of the weirdest interactions I ever had at Home Depot.

Bored Panda asked the author for their thoughts about the most important things to focus on in life, aside from finances.

"I think the two things that everybody should try harder to focus on are to learn more and to try to live with more compassion for everybody. We're all just out here doing our best, and everything you learn (whether it seems relevant at the time or not) helps you do even better," they told us.

"And if we remember that even people who might hurt us are trying their hardest, based on how they understand the world and what they know to do about it, we can make it less about fighting with one another and more about figuring out how to play better together."

I learned recently that there is a mattress that costs $600k and there is a person whose is to come over and fluff the horse hair filling of the mattress for the lifespan of the mattress. So I guess mattress fluffer.

I know someone who designs the IT and security systems for mega yachts. Not those piddly 100-foot yachts, the $300 Million+ yachts. I found out that one of the contracts he won was like a $10 Million contract. I'm in IT so I had to ask how that much IT can go into yacht. He said it's not the quantity, but the quality. For example, the electronic door strike for card access isnt the off-the-shelf model. It's custom made with 316 stainless steel that gets milled by hand and fitted perfectly to a door that's made out of mahogany.

We were also curious about the inspiration behind the interesting thread. "I asked the question because I thought that generating a conversation about how much of our society is dedicated exclusively to this small group of people and how different their world is, would be useful," the redditor opened up Bored Panda.

"I think that people resonated with it because it's something that they see every day and live alongside, and I think that people are thinking about these things more than they have before."

There are lots of services focused on elite luxury and vast wealth that you might not even realize are there. That is, until you stumble upon them by accident or finally make it big and start splurging.

"The wealthy have long been the ones to enjoy luxurious lifestyles and exclusive services that cater to their specific needs. However, there are many expensive services for the wealthy that most people don't even know exist," trial attorney Andrew Pickett, the founder of Andrew Pickett Law, told GOBankingRates.

One of these services is having access to fractional ownership of experiences, such as private jet travel, rare collectibles, and luxury vacations. Another is hiring experts to manage and curate your wine collections.

Luxury villa rentals....think Airbnb for the wealthy. I worked in the space for 5 yrs. These mansions are owned by the ultra wealthy and rented to the ultra wealthy. 500k/wk for a Christmas villa rentals. Private islands for 60k a night. And, full concierge service for the guests. Want unlimited jetskis, no problem. Stocked fridge with booze and food on arrival, check. Want to butcher a goat on the beach according to your religious practices....no problem.

Family office - an entire department that's catered to handling all finance, logistics, investment management and many other things to 1 specific family, or to a specific high net-worth individual. Especially for Old Money.

Those people who are paid to travel with luggage ahead of a person/family and unpack everything/set up the accomodation before the guests arrive.

Meanwhile, the ultra-wealthy also contract art authentication services, not just art advisors, to verify how legitimate certain works of art are.

Other luxury services, according to GOBankingRates, include:

Private medical concierge services, which include entire personal healthcare teams

Crypto asset estate planning

Tailoring and fashion design professionals who create and adjust personalized garments

Experiential travel planning that focuses on personalized, designed trips that match your wants

Concierge Medicine. They get picked up in a chauffeured car (provided by the health system) and taken to the hospital. Front line to get labs and tests, results ready as soon as it is read (which takes priority of everyone else). They meet with the doctor the same day to go over the results. Meanwhile, you get a catered lunch while you wait... but not with the poors. You get to wait in your very own waiting room.I hate our healthcare system. And I am a nurse!

My dad used to work on cranes, and one time he, he crew, and his crane were shipped out to an island for a couple of days to move an old-growth tree a couple hundred feet to improve the oceanfront view of a private residence. Not *remove* the tree - literally move and replant it.So probably that.

There are services that fill bookshelves with books in personal libraries/offices. You can curate the books by color/subject matter. Probably not a rich rich person type thing, but still a pretty niche service that a normal person would never even know exists.

If you ever hit the jackpot or land your dream, high-paying job, what do you hope to spend your immense wealth on? Even though financial stability is vital for everyone, putting riches aside for a moment, what do you think everyone should focus on in life, no matter their tax bracket?

We'd like to hear your thoughts. Feel free to share them in the comments!

I would say that pretty much every single industry branch you know has its own „for rich only" alternate dimension.a friend of mine works for a conpany that repairs coffee machines… not any machine. one brand. not a brand you can normally buy: a brand of coffee machines that are made only for certain private airplanes.company is like 50 people. the whole company exists to repair and maintain a coffee machine of a single brand in the airplanes of the ultra rich.he travels a lot.

I've done some catering and personal chef work for some very wealthy people. They had their own personal stylist/tailor who made their clothes. They had a tailored chef coat made for me. It wasnt just suits and dresses. They made their whole wardrobe.

Healthcare has entire different divisions for different classes. I work for a large Hospital network, and one of the bigger campuses has private offices, waiting areas, bathrooms, and even hotel rooms for certain clientele. They're pretty cleverly hidden, too. We've even been told that if we see body guards or Secret Service, that we mind our own business.

I once dated a woman who worked for a high-end florist, and the majority of her job was driving all over the city/suburbs to visit very wealthy people's homes and tend their fancy orchids. She dealt with other flowers too, but she was known as an orchid specialist and all these rich people had her on retainer for that reason.Fun trivia: I remember she said it was becoming trendy among her clients to install a urinal in the master bathroom.

I don't know if this qualifies as "very rich" as many people I know who use this are middle and even working class, but horse masseuse is a thing. I pay a woman to give my horse a massage once a month- $65.He's a working competition horse and he rides much better after his massages, but also she can identify areas he is extra sore or needs more stretching or that there may be an underlying soft tissue injury I was unaware of.

My partner is a master marine tech (yachts). It is mind blowing how much these people can spend without even thinking twice about it. Most owners enjoy their yacht once a year, for about a week, and still pay for a full time crew 365 247.

Private jet chartering is a prime example. It's basically a whole industry built around making sure the super wealthy can skip airports and fly whenever they want, with zero inconvenience. It's wild how much infrastructure and manpower goes into serving just a tiny fraction of people.

Luxury watches. And I'm not taking about Rolex, that's for upper middle class folks who are breaking into the watch game.Brands like Patek Philippe, FP Journe, A. Lange & Sohne, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, etc. Most people have likely never heard of them but most of their entry level watches can cost more than an average persons yearly mortgage.

My therapist's wife is an interior designer for yachts. Every single thing she deals with (upholstery, furniture, fixtures, etc) comes from companies that specialize in high end materials and furnishings specifically for luxury yachts. It's like looking through a window into another world seeing her office….

Sometimes marketed to the ultra-rich as e.g. "continuity of civilization", "life-continuity insurance", or "resilient real estate", things the press calls "survival bunkers," "doomsday shelters," or "apocalyptic retreats", for times of civil unrest/breakdown, disease outbreaks, climate disasters, war etc..

Trusts. I was curious about UK law school curricula and noted that a dedicated Trusts class is part of the base curricula in the UK. And that sort of told me all I needed to know about old money. Every lawyer is taught to defend it.

I don't know if this is actually for the rich or seems like it should be but there's a company in my town that fills your car up with gas at your house. You pay I believe a monthly subscription and then you get your gas pumped right into your car in your driveway.

This is probably an obvious one but private jet sales.

Cryonics. Basically an entire industry built around charging rich people rent to be popsicles.

There's several companies that do bespoke $10,000+ cell-phones, usually made of exotic metals and gemstones, and USUALLY with a private concierge service on speed dial...need to order a 1961 Bollinger La Grande Annee Brut at 4 in the morning to go with your hookers and blow?? They got you. need to figure out what markets are open in the middle of the night when you are one step away from insider trading and have to set up a shady tax shelter in a non extradition country? Yup, probably have some swiss banker on speed dial.

Philanthropy. It exists primarily for tax evasion and reputation laundering. Much cheaper to spend $100K giving a gift to a charity than it is to spend millions on imagine consultants etc.

I met a guy who owns a bunch of race cars. He moves them around the US to different tracks and he runs races for the super rich who jet in, race, have a party, then leave. He takes care of everything with the cars. He makes serious dough doing this, but nothing close to what his customers have.

Corporations. They exist to service the rich. Employees, customers, MBA, etc. are there to churn out cash for the rich. Think about that next time you are working late.
