Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, who is known for acting on the Hallmark Channel, emotionally opened up about shaving her head amid her breast cancer battle.

Lowe, 44, took to Instagram on Monday, October 27, to share a video of her shaving her head as she's dealt with hair loss amid her battle with stage 3 breast cancer. The clip showed her explaining how her hair had been falling out, even by the slightest pull. She then sat in the chair and her head was shaved bald as she visibly cried.

"Well ladies and gentlemen,..I did a thing," Lowe wrote in the caption. "Waking up to clumps of hair falling out was traumatic. Hiding it was the worst! But doing this … this made me feel like I was in the driver's seat."

She continued, "Sharing my head with you all…..scary but I really want anyone who's going through this to see that I'm ok. And you will be too."

"Also, I still cried a lot. But after it all…felt so strong. Side note- surround yourself with people that tell you how beautiful you are bald. That is the assignment. And if you don't have anyone I will tell you!!" Lowe concluded with four red heart emojis.

Shortly after Lowe shared the video, several social media users took to the comments section to applaud the actress for her vulnerability amid her cancer battle. "You are so so brave…Beautiful Crystal. Thinking and praying for you on this journey," Tia Mowry said, while Sharon Lawrence added, ""Your light is your beauty and it is radiant. I know the hair loss is hard but I also know it's something you will adjust to and will feel freeing when you're least expecting it. A great wig works wonders too… and some health plans cover them as a cranial prosthesis."

"You're so incredibly beautiful! So strong. So brave. So inspirational. You are surrounded with so much love and healing light. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Love you so much my sweet friend. You are a warrior," one fan commented, while another wrote, "You are beautiful inside and out and girl you are rocking the bald look! Sharing this journey with us only intensifies how courageous and brave and strong you are! Sending you my love!"

Lowe previously announced her diagnosis in an essay written for People on October 10. "In February of 2025, while getting ready one morning, I noticed a large mass in my right breast," she wrote. "In that moment, everything else fell away. At first, I thought I had sprained a muscle while working out. To be safe, I immediately went to my doctor who ordered a mammogram and guided ultrasound, but found nothing. 'The breast is just one of those things,' they said casually. 'It's a mystery…'"

A couple of months passed before Lowe noticed some changes and went back to the doctor, where she was diagnosed with invasive carcinoma stage 3. She then learned she had to undergo chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiation.

"This journey has been scary, strange, and humbling. It has stripped me down in ways I never saw coming, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And yet… I promise to persevere. To turn poison into medicine. To grow," she wrote. "That's what I'm learning every single day."

Lowe is best known for starring in Hallmark projects such as the Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies, Marry Me at Christmas and The Wish Swap.
