Beloved jam band Phish are paying tribute to the victims of a gruesome stabbing that took place outside their concert at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia on Friday.

"During last night's show, a tragic incident took place in the parking lot outside Hampton Coliseum. There was an altercation behind one of the tents in the unofficial vending area in which someone lost their life and two other people were injured," the band shared in a post to their official Instagram account's followers on 345,000 followers on Saturday. "We don't have more information than what has been reported by the police, who called it an isolated incident, but what we do know is upsetting enough. We are deeply saddened by this and our hearts go out to all of those affected."

An argument broke out between a group of concert attendees in the parking lot during Friday's concert "escalated into a physical altercation," leaving one victim with an injury that proved fatal, according to a release issued by Corporal Shaun Stalnaker of the Hampton Police Division on Saturday. Two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. One of those two was transported to a hospital where they are receiving medical treatment, and the other, who sustained a laceration, "arrived at a local hospital as a walk-in."

The incident occurred around 9:33 p.m. ET, after which the suspect allegedly fled on foot and was later detained. All parties have since been identified, and while the case remains active, authorities have labeled it an "isolated incident."

The Hampton Police Division did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.

Phish have been on tour throughout the summer, with the three dates at the Hampton Coliseum set for Sept. 19-21 as the grand finale. The concerts on Sept. 20 and 21 went on as planned, but with an increased police presence, per local CBS affiliate WTKR.

The band recently announced they'll be returning to the stage in December in a four-night engagement at Madison Square Garden. The series of shows stretching from Dec. 28-31, dubbed the "New Year's Run," bring "Phish's total number of plays at Madison Square Garden to 91," according to the band's official website.
