In Rare Interview, Blues Traveler's John Popper Just Made a Surprising Confession About His Marriage

John Popperhas been keeping a secret from the public for over a year, and theBlues Travelerfrontman is finally ready to set the record straight. In a rare interview on Rolling Stone's podcastRolling Stone Music Now, the 58-year-old musician revealed he's been married sinceOctober2024 to a woman he's known for more than two decades.

But it's the story of how they met that's capturing everyone's attention.

Popper marriedSherri Popper, formerlySherri Fisher,after first crossing paths 21 years ago at a nudist colony inHammond, Indiana. The harmonica virtuoso explained that adult film starRon Jeremyhad invited him to attend, andSherrihappened to be Jeremy's date at the time.

"I just knew that of all the nude women there, she was the only one with a shirt on, and of course, the eye wants what it can't see," Popper recalled. He ended up "stealing her from Ron Jeremy at a nudist colony."

John Popper and His Wife Finally Got Their Recognition

One of the reasons Popper decided to share his personal news publicly was purely practical. His Wikipedia page had "no evidence she exists," something he said had been "driving both of us crazy for the better part of the year."

After their initial meeting in 2003, Popper and Sherri each went on to live separate lives. They eventually reconnected and tied the knot on October 12, 2024. The couple now shares a blendedfamily, with Sherri bringing onesonand Popper bringing a daughter from their previous relationships.

How Has 2024 Treated the Blues Traveler Star?

While marriage brought joy, 2024 also delivered some frightening health challenges for the "Run-Around" singer. During routine carpal tunnel surgeries, doctors discovered a heart flutter. When Popper returned for a procedure to address it, a physician accidentally nicked his femoral artery, causing significant blood loss.

Days later, while performing at a private event, he began bleeding again and required three additional surgeries at a different hospital. The medical drama didn't end there. On his honeymoon in Italy, Popper slipped getting out of the shower and hit his head, requiring yet another ambulance call.

Despite the roller coaster year, Popper remains optimistic. He shared that Blues Traveler is playing better than ever, with the band essentially sober now after 38 years together. The group plans to tour again in 2026 alongsideSpin DoctorsandGin Blossoms.
