The 33-year-old pop star opened up for the first time about her recent proposal from fiancé Maxx Morando during aGood Morning Americainterview with Chris Connelly on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
When Connelley, 68, asked Cyrus if "more congratulations" were due for an engagement amid the release of her new song from the soundtrack forAvatar: Fire and Ash, she replied, "Yes, there's more congrats."

Cyrus confirmed that Morando, 27, got down on one knee for his proposal, saying that even more impressively, he managed to keep it a surprise.
"I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation, and I had completely surrendered," she shared. "And I'm telling you, I was so, so, so surprised."
As for her answer to Morando's question, Cyrus said she "of course" said yes. She then added that her fiancé "did good" when it came to picking out her chunky gold engagement ring.
The Disney Channel alum added that her personal life "perfectly aligned" with the release of the new James Cameron epic. "Those two things kind of, I guess you could say, marrying each other and harmonizing with each other," she said.

Cyrus said that after she returned home from her engagement bliss, she "went straight into the kind of Pandora,Avatarworld."
"People think of it as a film, it's larger than life, it's grand scale, but actually at the heart ofAvatar,it's really about relationships, love, having each other's back, so it actually felt very aligned with my life," she explained.
She described her new song, "Dream as One," as sounding like a "diary entry," noting that she feels that she and Morando also dream as one.
"Me and Max have been together for four years and it's very obvious the drastic amount of growth I've had in those four years," the Grammy winner said. "You just want to dream the biggest you can and you want to have someone by your side that always tells you you can do it."
Cyrus and the drummer were first romantically linked in December 2021, when they were photographed getting close backstage during Cyrus' NBC holiday special,Miley's New Year's Eve Party, in Miami.
The couple stepped out at theAvatar: Fire and Ashworld premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, Dec. 1, showing off Cyrus' new engagement ring from designer Jacquie Aiche.
"The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I've been astounded that I've actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice,"Cyrus previously told PEOPLEof the engagement.
She added, "I think it's also being older, being more protective of what I'm open to sharing."
