'Mad Men' fans spot errors in botched HBO 4K remaster

You can'tblame Emilia Clarkefor these HBO gaffes.

Fans who tune in to HBO Max's new 4K remaster of AMC's hit period drama "Mad Men" may be able to catch a few missed post-production edits in the shiny new versions of the episodes, which dropped Dec. 1. One user on X, @bigrackspart7,called outa Season 1 scene in whichJohn Slattery's character Roger vomits up oysters, where multiple crew members are seen up and center operating a vomit rig to produce the gross effect.

The user noted he looked up the original scene to be sure, "and yep he is not supposed to be there."

The same user thenpointed outa Season 2 scene in whichElisabeth Moss' Peggy walks the dimly lit streets of New York City, but in the remaster, modern-day ads for a Los Angeles restaurant and SIM cards appear. "Mad Men" is set in the 1960s. As of Wednesday, Dec. 3, both errors are still live.

the new 4K transfer of mad men on HBO somehow does not have any of the post-production edits added in, which means you get stuff like this where you can see the crew member manning the puke machine after Roger has too many oysters lmaopic.twitter.com/HNgPRNOsla

AMCresponded to the tweetwith a GIF ofJon Hamm's Don Draper, giving mock applause.

The streamer was given the incorrect files for the remaster, and is in the process of acquiring the correct ones, according to a person familiar with the situation who was not authorized to speak publicly.

USA TODAY has reached out to HBO for comment.

"Mad Men" aired from 2007 to 2015. HBO's remaster is the first time the Emmy-winning series is available in 4K, according toVariety.

'Mad Men' reunion: Jon Hamm,John Slattery on fake cigarettes, finale, blackface episode

This isn't the first time HBO has been called out for a production gaffe. Among the complaints about the much-panned finale season of "Game of Thrones" was the accidental inclusion of a Starbucks cup in the final edit of Season 8, Episode 4. And while Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen, was largely blamed for the mistake, months later she pointed the finger at Conleth Hill, who played Varys in the series andalso denied culpability.

And as far as remasters go, Netflix has drawn ire for gaffes due to the use ofartificialintelligenceupscaling.
