Presley Gerber is hoping the truth will set him free.
The model son of runway iconCindy Crawfordand brother of rising starKaia Gerbershared a lengthy videoto his Instagram on Wednesday detailing his current progress on his mental health journey.
"Here's some clarity for ya," he wrote in the caption of the black-and-white selfie video shot inside a sauna. "The truth will set you free (hopefully) haha."
Gerber proceeded to sketch an outline of his current medication regimen, which includes opiates, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, blood pressure medications, ketamine drips, and drugs like the anticonvulsant medication gabapentin, which he called "comfort meds."
"The benzos have been fluctuating up and down depending on what's been going on in my life," Gerber shared. "Unfortunately, I've had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it's the reason why I am where I'm at now."
The 26-year-old noted that he takes the anti-anxiety medication Xanax "a little bit at night or when the panic attacks are really, really bad, I try to take as little of that as possible." Valium, a powerful central nervous depressant similar to Xanax he takes "a little bit in the morning," and he's on 1mg of buprenorphine, an opioid often prescribed to treat chronic pain.
"I don't know if it's a little bit or a lot, who f---ing knows at this point anymore. All these doctors say a lot of different things, so it's kind of scary, but hopefully between my research and their research and God, we can figure this out," Gerber shared. "The things that scare me are the things you need to take," he explained, so "if you don't take them, something not good happens."
Gerber noted that, at present, he doesn't feel he has "as much direction as I would like to have" in terms of his clinical care. Though he has seen 15 psychiatrists, he would prefer a provider who doesn't "give me that much leeway... I'm looking for a doctor that will help me taper, not just keep me on some stuff."
He wound down the video by sharing his hope to find "a good community of people who can be good influences on me, as I've grown up in Hollywood... I have a feeling that if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there's someone else going through it."
