When the Minnesota Vikings host the Atlanta Falcons on "Sunday Night Football" tonight, wide receiver Jordan Addison won't be suited up. He likely won't even be on the sideline.

Instead, Addison will be sitting out for a second game amid his three-game suspension the NFL handed down in August. The league found the wide receiver guilty of violating the league's substance abuse policy following a July arraignment and plea hearing for his arrest near Los Angeles International Airport last year.

Addison will miss Sunday night's game and Minnesota's Week 3 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. He'll return in Week 4, when the Vikings travel to Dublin, Ireland for a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the meantime, Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy will have to lean on other receivers like star Justin Jefferson and veteran Adam Thielen, who returned to Minnesota via trade shortly before the season began.

Where is Jordan Addison?

Addison is serving a three-game suspension to start the 2025 season. Week 2's "Sunday Night Football" game will be Addison's second missed game.

The NFL suspended the wideout for violating its substance abuse policy after he was arrested in July 2024 for suspicion of driving under the influence near Los Angeles International Airport.

Over one year later, this past July, Addison officially had his arraignment and plea hearing. He agreed to plead to a lesser, "wet reckless" charge, which is a reckless driving charge acknowledging the influence of alcohol. It carries less severe penalties than a DUI and does not result in a DUI conviction being recorded on a criminal record.

Because Addison's arrest still involved alcohol, the NFL classified his actions as being in violation of the league's substance abuse policy and gave him a three-game suspension to begin the season.

Thielen, whom the Vikings initially signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013, is back in Minnesota after two years with the Carolina Panthers. Minnesota re-acquired Thielen in a trade one day after the roster cut deadline as added help with Addison suspended and Moore ending up on season-ending injured reserve after a preseason knee injury. This year is Thielen's 11th season in total with the Vikings after his first, 10-year stint ended in 2023.

Nailor is in Year 4 with Minnesota after the Vikings drafted him in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Felton and Price are both rookies, with Felton joining the Vikings as a third-round pick in this year's draft and Price signing on as an undrafted free agent, one of seven to make the team's 53-man roster to start the season.
