Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have opened up about their stance on Las Vegas' hot new venue, the Sphere — and as it turns out, the band is actually "uncomfortable" with the idea of performing there.
"No. It's not Maiden," frontman Bruce Dickinson recently told Eddie Trunk on his SiriusXM show Trunk Nation. "Maiden's about the relationship between the band and the audience, and the show, whilst it's a show, is an enhancement to what we do. The Sphere, as far as I can gather — I mean, I appreciate what you're saying about it's all-encompassing, it's this and that, it's the other — but I think the band would be very uncomfortable with the idea."
Dickinson, 67, added, "I mean, we just do a lot of stuff — we run around, we go around — and at the Sphere, what's the point?" he demanded. "In fact, what's the point of even being there, if you're a band?"
The legendary British metal band was formed in London in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris. Dickinson joined the group in 1981 after late singer Paul Di'Anno was asked to leave the band due to his drug usage. Dickinson auditioned for the group unbeknownst to Di'Anno —who died in October 2024 at age 66 — and was hired on the spot.

The band has gone on to be one of rock's most iconic mainstays — and one of their peers actually has the complete opposite feeling about the Sphere: fellow metal legends Metallica.
"I'm not going to confirm anything, because there's nothing to confirm," the band's drummer Lars Ulrich told Howard Stern in an interview from early August. "But I'm not going to deny it, because we're all such fans of this venue. All of our managers and our production people have been there and looked at it. It's something that we're considering, [but] nothing is etched in stone or green-lit. It's something that we're looking at at some point when the 2026 tour is done."
The musician, 61, added, "I'm not going to bullshit you, I would fucking love to do it, let there be no question about it. It's not signed, sealed and delivered, but speaking to me and asking my opinion, I would fucking love to do it."So if you're a metal fan, it seems you'll be able to see at least one of the greats at the Sphere someday.
