The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in the U.K. is reportedly investigating allegations of drug use on set of Strictly Come Dancing, the British version of Dancing With the Stars, according to a report by BBC News.
"On Tuesday 12 August, the Metropolitan Police received an allegation about drug related offences," read a statement from an MPD spokesperson obtained by BBC News. "Police are assessing the information and further enquiries are taking place to establish whether there is evidence of a criminal offence being committed."
The BBC, a public broadcasting channel in the U.K. which airs Strictly Come Dancing, had reportedly launched their own investigation earlier this month into the alleged drug use by two of their celebrity contestants.
The cast members involved in the investigation were not named by the outlet, but the allegations were reportedly made in a legal submission by the law firm Russells on behalf of former contestant Wynne Evans.
It was also reported that the two stars' alleged cocaine use was "talked about widely among the cast" of the show, and that several people had reported allegations of drug taking on the show to the BBC.
BBC News, which is a division of the BBC, says that the BBC hired a law firm to assist with the investigation. The network also said it had "clear protocols and policies in place" for dealing with any serious complaints raised.

The alleged drug use is only the latest scandal to affect the longtime reality competition show. Over the past year, the series, which has been airing since 2004, has been plagued with several controversies surrounding their professional dancers and celebrity participants.
Last year, professional dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima left the show after allegations surfaced of abusive and threatening behavior towards their dance partners.
The BBC announced new safety measures for the show last July, including having chaperones in all rehearsal rooms and providing additional training for professional dancers, production team, and crew members.
In January, Evans, reportedly used "inappropriate language" during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour, which led to him being dropped from his BBC Radio Wales daytime show.
