Daniel Day-Lewis is back on the big screen.
In addition to leading the upcoming movie Anemone, the three-time Oscar winner, 68, co-writes its script with his director and son, Ronan Day-Lewis. The first trailer, released Thursday, Aug. 21, promises drama both intimate and explosive.
Daniel stars in his son's directorial debut alongside Sean Bean, Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green and Samantha Morton.
Per a press release, the film may draw real-life inspiration from the father-son duo: "Family bonds between fathers, sons and brothers are explored as complex relationships unfold through personal journeys and generational conflicts."

Daniel shares Ronan, 27, as well as sons Gabriel and Cashel, with Rebecca Miller, his wife since 1996. The Lincoln actor first met her while acting in a play written by her father, Arthur Miller.
Anemone marks Daniel's first film since 2017's Phantom Thread. The English star indicated that same year that he was retiring from his acting career, making his new collaboration with Ronan a surprise.
Daniel, who largely avoids the spotlight, has been spotted on rare occasions and in 2024 showed up to support longtime collaborator Martin Scorsese at the National Board of Review Awards Gala.
In a statement about Anemone, Focus Features Chairman Peter Kujawski said, "We could not be more excited to partner with a brilliant visual artist in Ronan Day-Lewis on his first feature film alongside Daniel Day-Lewis as his creative collaborator. They have written a truly exceptional script, and we look forward to bringing their shared vision to audiences alongside the team at Plan B."
Anemone will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival this fall.
