<p>Melissa Gilbert claimed that her birth father instantly knew she was his daughter after he saw her act as Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie.</p>
<p>While appearing on the Tuesday, July 8, episode of the "Patrick LabyorSheaux" podcast, Gilbert, 61, explained that she called her birth father when she was an adult in an attempt to share how they were related. However, she was surprised to learn that he already knew he was her birth father.</p>
<p>"I didn't tell him who I was, and then he asked me, 'Well, who are you? What do you do?'" she told host Patrick Labyorteaux. "And I said, 'Well, here's the thing.' And I said, 'Did you ever watch Little House on the Prairie?' And he said, 'You're Laura, aren't you? I knew it.' He knew it."</p>
<p>After the father-daughter duo connected on the phone call, Gilbert was later introduced to her father's other children. "When I met my half siblings, we all look alike," she recalled. "So, you could definitely see it. So, it's pretty clear."</p>

<p>Not only did Gilbert see a resemblance with her half siblings, but she also said that her newfound family members look like her own children. "When I saw [her son, Dakota] for the first time, I went, 'Oh my god,'" she said of her eldest child, whom she welcomed in 1989 with her first husband, Bo Brinkman. "He had my eyebrows and he had my lips, and I'd never seen anyone that looked like me. And then I realized there's got to be more."</p>
<p>Gilbert also shared information about her birth mother during the podcast episode. After she noted that she passed away before Gilbert set out to find her birth parents, she explained that she was a former exotic dancer. Meanwhile, her birth father worked as a stock car racer and musician.</p>
<p>The Christmas Pageant actress was raised by adoptive parents Barbara Cowan and Paul Gilbert, who died in 1976.</p>
