<p>'Bridgerton' Star Simone Ashley Joins Cast of Iconic 2006 Remake originally appeared on Parade.</p>
<p>On Tuesday afternoon, Deadline reported that Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley has joined the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2, alongside cast members Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and new addition Kenneth Branagh.</p>
<p>The sequel of the 2006 film will follow fashion editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep), whose magazine is facing a heavy decline as the print industry goes down and is slowly getting replaced by digital news. Her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt) is now a huge executive for an advertising company, and the two compete for revenue.</p>
<p>The Devil Wears Prada followed Andrea Sachs (Hathaway), a young journalist trying to make her way in the industry. Though she did not have much experience with fashion, she ended up taking a job as Priestly's assistant and had to deal with her emotionally abusive antics.</p>
<p>David Frankel, who directed the original 2006 film, is back, along with Aline Brosh McKenna, who returns as the writer. McKenna adapted the original movie from Lauren Weisberger's novel of the same name, which was loosely inspired by the author's time working for former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt are also coming back as producers for the film.</p>
<p>It is unclear so far what Hathaway's character or Ashley's role will be in the film.</p>

<p>Ashley starred in the second and third seasons of Netflix's Bridgerton as Lady Kathani 'Kate' Bridgerton/Sharma. The British actress also appeared in Disney's The Little Mermaid as Indira and the Netflix series Sex Education.</p>
<p>The Devil Wears Prada 2 started filming on June 30, according to an Instagram post by 20th Century Studios. The film will be released on May 1, 2026.</p>
