Julianne and Derek Hough are just two of five Hough children!

The former Dancing with the Stars professionals are the youngest of five children and have three older sisters: Sharee, Marabeth and Katherine Hough. The five kids were born to Bruce and Marriann Hough.

"My relationship with my family is really strong," Derek told FOX411 in 2014. "We have our trials and our difficult moments, but we're really close and really supportive. It goes back to love and support — my dad keeps us all very grounded, my mom is our biggest cheerleader, and we always say we're a team."

All five siblings were professionally trained as dancers, actors and musicians and bonded with each other over their love of entertainment. As the five siblings grew up, Julianne broke out as a dancer on Dancing with the Stars, while Derek later joined her. Meanwhile, Katherine, Sharee and Marabeth embarked on their own journeys with separate successful professional and personal lives.

Here's everything to know about Julianne and Derek Hough's three siblings, Sharee, Katherine and Marabeth.

Derek, who was born in 1985, and Julianne, who was born in 1988, are the youngest of five children. Sharee is the oldest daughter, followed by Marabeth and Katherine Hough. Their parents, Bruce and Marriann, raised all of their kids in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints outside of Salt Lake City, Utah.

"I'm not practicing, but I'm so glad I was raised Mormon," Julianne told the New York Post in 2013. "When I left and went to L.A. — and I even lived in London for a while — I was like, 'Whoa, there's a whole other world outside of what I've known my whole life.' It's not close-minded, it's just one-track minded."

Marabeth works as a residential real estate agent at LCT Team and has been named among the top realtors in the state, per her LCT bio. Katherine Hough has been a licensed esthetician for over 20 years and has worked at day spas, med spas, research companies and her own businesses.

"I'm dedicated to continue to learn all the new technologies and expand my skills as an esthetician to better serve my clients," she wrote on Instagram in 2021. "I love not only helping with your skincare needs but also help you feel pampered. My goal is to ensure you leave feeling educated and heard on what your skincare needs and goals are."

Katherine owns her own company, Skin by Katherine, where she provides facials, chemical peels, dermaplaning and lash and brow tints, among other services. Her business has its own Instagram page, where she shares skincare tips, her clients' results and speaks about her services.

When she's not sharing content from her business, she's advocating for glioblastoma research, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Katherine has been speaking about the devastating disease after her partner, Tony Schnur, died from his diagnosis in 2023. In July 2025, Katherine shared an Instagram video collage of herself and Schnur for Glioblastoma Awareness Day.

"This ruthless disease took Tony from us far too soon, and not a day goes by that I don't miss him, his laugh, his humor, his love, his strength," she captioned the post. "Glioblastoma is aggressive, relentless, and underfunded. This disease has affected so many. 💔 We need more awareness. We need more research. And we need a cure."

Katherine is a mom to three daughters: Ari, Adi and Avery. She shares pictures and videos of them celebrating milestones, spending time with their uncles and aunts and going on adventures. In September 2025, Julianne described Katherine as a "good, present mom."

"When I look at my third sister, for instance, she has three beautiful daughters and like, she has all these activities and she plans all these things and I'm, like, in awe of her," Julianne said on Not Skinny But Not Fat. "And I'm just like, you are such a good present mom. And I'm like, I admire that so much."

Marabeth, Sharee and Katherine are also trained entertainers

All five Hough siblings were raised in an entertainment environment, with them all studying dancing, acting and singing.

"My three older sisters all danced and sang and acted. We were in, like, a band. We were just always in it," Julianne recalled on Not Skinny But Not Fat. "My grandparents met dancing, my parents met dancing. It's in the blood."

Sharee specialized as a classically trained ballet dancer who studied at Ballet West Conservatory and later danced for both Odyssey Dance Theater and American Folk Ballet Company, per her website bio. She went on to work in musical theater and performed, directed and choreographed for Utah productions.

Meanwhile, Marabeth also worked as a model and stuntwoman and continues singing and writing songs while living in Nashville. While Katherine focused on acting, she has since seemed to solely focus on her skin company.

When Julianne starred in the 2011 film Footloose, all three of her sisters joined her for a group dance as cowboy dancers. In September 2025, Julianne opened up about their sibling dynamic and explained that they've had conversations discussing the dynamic between her and Derek and their three older sisters.

"We've had this conversation. There's no jealousy, but there is, like, a sadness that maybe there wasn't an opportunity for them to experience it," Julianne explained on Not Skinny But Not Fat. "They're so happy, so, so, so happy. And look, they have great lives, and they love their life. But, you know it's a 'what if.' We had an opportunity that they didn't have. Yeah. And it's hard."

Julianne added, "That was one of my biggest things was Derek and I were always so close because we had shared experiences. Whereas, like, we never wanted to share because we were afraid to hurt someone's feelings, but that just grew us further and further apart. Because we weren't sharing. They didn't feel included."

However, Julianne explained that she and Derek have made efforts to change that and prioritize maintaining a close relationship.

"We're close and we're moving through it. And it's like human nature, too. People are gonna have feelings, you know, and they can be happy for you, but at the same time feel like, 'Oh,' " she said. "It's all relative, you know. They were super close as sisters growing up. And so I didn't get to have the closeness of sisters and that bond. Or, you know, they have marriages and kids and I don't have that experience."
