In a heartwarming moment, bride Shacole Fox's 79-year-old landlord, Gil Pulliam, offered to walk her down the aisle at her wedding
In an interview with CBS News, Fox explained that her father was never in her life, so Pulliam stepped up to fill the traditional fatherly wedding processional role
"It was a really good feeling… Yeah, it still is. Like a wound had been healed in my heart," Fox said
In a heartwarming moment, a bride's elderly landlord offered to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.
It's traditional in Western culture for brides to walk down the aisle escorted by their father, but Ohio-based bride Shacole Fox never knew hers. Fox told CBS News that she initially thought her father's ceremony absence wouldn't bother her, but as her big day approached she started to "feel a void."
"When I thought about who would walk me down the aisle, trying to figure out what that looks like, the thought of it was surprisingly painful," Fox said in an interview published on Friday, Sept. 12.
Fox "wouldn't have thought in a million years" that her landlord would be the one to do the honor.
She works as a makeup artist with a studio space in Cincinnati that is owned by 79-year-old Gil Pulliam, who surprised her by making her wedding processional a moment she will never forget.

Pulliam was aware of Fox's family situation, so he stepped up and asked her if he could support her on her special day.
"So I went back up to ask Shacole if I could escort her down the aisle," Pulliam recalled to CBS News. "And she said, 'Yes, yes, yes!' And on and on and on."
Fox, who said "I do" to a man named Victor "a couple months ago," couldn't be more grateful for her landlord turned father figure.

"The music is playing — and I'm getting ready to walk down the aisle — and he grabbed my hand so tight," she said of Pulliam. "And it was a really good feeling… Yeah, it still is. Like a wound had been healed in my heart."
