Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are making a rare appearance with the royals at the funeral for Katharine, the Duchess of Kent.
On Sept. 16, the Duke and Duchess of York, both 65, arrived together at Westminster Cathedral for the historic royal funeral of the Duchess of Kent. Katharine was married to Queen Elizabeth's cousin Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, and on Sept. 5, Buckingham Palace announced her death at age 92 had occurred the day prior.
King Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton also attended the funeral mass, which Queen Camilla was forced to withdraw from at the last minute due to illness.
The Duchess of Kent's funeral marked a rare public appearance at a royal family event for Prince Andrew and Ferguson, who is popularly known as Fergie. The Duke and Duchess of York were seen driving in Windsor in August, but they last officially stepped out together to attend the Easter Mattins Service at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in April, an outing that their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, also attended with their husbands.

King Charles' younger brother Andrew is no longer a working member of the royal family after stepping back from his public duties in 2019 following his explosive interview with BBC's Newsnight about his links to the late Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York was stripped of his military titles and patronages by his mother, the Queen, in January 2022 after attempting to have Virginia Giuffre's sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed.
Prince Andrew has denied any wrongdoing and settled with Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, out of court for an undisclosed sum in February 2022.

Though Prince Andrew no longer holds a public royal role, he retained his Duke of York title, Royal Lodge home and continues to attend royal family outings, including funerals, holiday church outings and other family events.
The Duke and Duchess of York divorced in 1996 after a decade of marriage but remain close today, and Fergie has been a steadfast supporter by her ex-husband's side following what she described as his "demise."

"We've been there for each other — you know, when I've gone through really bad times in the past, Andrew's always been there," the Duchess of York said on Good Morning Britain in 2023.
"He is exceptionally kind, and he is a very, seriously good grandfather. He's very steadfast for the girls," she continued, referencing their daughters Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35. "We are women that also have had to see the demise of a very strong man, and that has been really difficult to see."
