<p>KPop Demon Hunters, a musical animated film that premiered on Netflix on June 20 without much promotion beforehand, has quickly shot to extreme success, breaking multiple records.</p>
<p>The movie stars Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira, and Ji-young Yoo as Zoey, three young women who are members of a K-pop group called HUNTR/X and work as demon hunters trying to make the world safe. Things get complicated when a demon boy band called Saja Boys arrives on the scene.</p>

<p>Shortly after KPop Demon Hunters hit the streaming network, it became very popular, rising to take the top spot on Netflix's global movie chart for the week after its release. It is currently still the top movie in the U.S. and South Korea.</p>
<p>As the movie continues to achieve streaming success, the soundtrack, which features hit songs like "Golden" and "Your Idol," is smashing records on music charts as well. KPop Demon Hunters currently holds the third spot on the Billboard 200 album chart, becoming the highest-charting soundtrack of 2025, beating Wicked. It is also the highest-charting animated movie soundtrack since Encanto topped the charts in early 2022.</p>
<p>In addition, KPop Demon Hunters had the most streaming in a week for a soundtrack in the U.S. since the popular Barbie soundtrack in 2023, with over 77 million streams in the tracking week ending on July 3, according to Billboard. Multiple tracks are charting on the Billboard and Spotify song charts, with "Golden" taking the fourth spot on the latter's Weekly Top Songs Global chart for the week ending in July 3.</p>
<p>The hit animated film continues to receive huge praise from audiences and critics alike, earning Oscar buzz. Netflix confirmed that it is entering the KPop Demon Hunters song "Golden," co-written by Ejae, who provided the singing voice for Rumi, and Mark Sonnenblick, for consideration at the Academy Awards.</p>
