Diane Keaton's famous friends are opening up about her public appearances in the months before her death.

Keaton's longtime pal and Book Club costar Ed Begley Jr. recalled one of their final interactions, which happened to involve Jack Nicholson.

"I saw her fairly recently at Jack Nicholson's birthday party, and it was good to see her there," Begley Jr., 76, told People on Saturday, October 11. "She loved Jack Nicholson, as I do, and Jack loved her. So I don't mean to speak for him. I'm sure he's as devastated as I am by her loss."

News broke of Keaton's death on Saturday. At the time, a friend of the star told the outlet that the Oscar winner, aged 79, "declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her." A cause of death has not yet been revealed.

The friend added, "In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren't fully aware of what was happening."

Keaton and Nicholson, who turned 88 on April 22, played romantic leads in 2003's Something's Gotta Give. The Nancy Meyers-directed rom-com also starred Keanu Reeves, Amanda Peet, Frances McDormand, Jon Favreau, Paul Michael Glaser, Rachel Ticotin, KaDee Strickland and Peter Spears, and ultimately earned Keaton a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2004 Oscars.

Years before Keaton's death, Meyers recalled the actress' undeniable chemistry with Nicholson on set, particularly during the scene where their characters professed their love for each other.

"We're rehearsing that scene in the street, where he's running after her and he calls me over after one rehearsal. He's all rattled," Meyers told Vulture in April 2018.

She continued, "I said, 'What's up?' And he goes, 'Diane just told me she loves me.' I couldn't tell if he was horrified or thrilled. So I was like, 'Yes, I know, I wrote that line. It's in the script, Jack.' And he said, 'Oh, OK.' He thought she meant it. It's really funny. That's her."

Keaton was fond of working with Nicholson, writing in her 2011 memoir, Then Again, that Something's Gotta Give was her "favorite film."

"It's the best of all possible worlds for me," she once told the BBC of the movie. "Not only do I get to kiss Keanu Reeves and have a big romance with him, but I also get to have the same experience with Jack! He's the original bad boy, so that's about as exciting as it gets."

Meyers mourned Keaton in a tribute posted via Instagram on Monday, October 13.

"These past 48 hours have not been easy," Meyers penned. "Seeing all of your tributes to Diane has been a comfort. As a movie lover, I'm with you all - we have lost a giant. A brilliant actress who time and again laid herself bare to tell our stories."

Meyers continued, "As a woman, I lost a friend of almost 40 years - at times over those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences. As a filmmaker, I've lost a connection with an actress that one can only dream of. We all search for that someone who really gets us, right? Well, with Diane, I believe we mutually had that."

Begley Jr. also spoke with Us Weekly exclusively about his "close" friendship with Keaton at the Environmental Media Association (EMA) Awards on Saturday, revealing she was "like a sister" to him.

"It hit me hard when I heard of her passing," he shared. "She's with us still [in spirit]. She's not going anywhere."

Howard Stern has no beef with Oprah Winfrey.

In an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, Stern shut down the "Watch What Happens Live" host's suggestion that Winfrey, who Stern has previously criticized for showing off her wealth, is one of his enemies.

"No, I love Oprah," Stern clarified. "I follow Oprah. I enjoy watching Oprah."

At the same time, Stern doubled down on his previous observation that Winfrey seems "unaware of the way she shows her wealth," which can seem out of touch.

"I couldn't do that," Stern said. "I'm not saying she's wrong. We all know she's wealthy. But in the world right now, there is such a disparity between those who have and those who have not, and only getting worse."

Howard Stern, left, denied the idea that Oprah Winfrey is his enemy in an interview with Andy Cohen.

Stern previously made the same criticism of Winfrey on his show in 2022, saying it's "mind-blowing" how she shows off her wealth on Instagram. "You gotta be a little self-aware and know that there are people struggling out there," he said at the time, according to Business Insider.

Stern told Cohen, though, that he finds it "funny" how Winfrey "is unapologetically wealthy," adding, "And good for her! I don't hate Oprah at all. I think she's brilliant."

The "Howard Stern Show" host also told Cohen he has never met Winfrey, though their mutual friend Gayle King has suggested they get together. "I said, 'You better check with Oprah. Don't surprise her with me,'" he joked.

The interview with Stern came amid questions about the radio host's future at SiriusXM. In September, Stern returned to the air after a summer break and mocked "annoying" tabloid rumors that his show is being canceled. Stern said he has been talking with SiriusXM about his future and that while he has not signed a new contract, he anticipated that "I'll be back."

But Stern bemoaned the idea that if he were to decide not to return to his show, critics would claim he was canceled for being too "woke."

"Too woke? I don't even know what a woke is," he said. "What is woke? If I'm too woke, the world has turned upside down! The stuff I do and talk about ... I don't even know what that means. But you know what? If it means I'm awakened, God bless."

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Tuesday is posthumously awarding America's highest civilian honor to Charlie Kirk, the assassinated activist who inspired a generation of young conservatives and helped push the nation's politics further to the right.

The ceremony coincides with what would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday. It comes just over a month after the Turning Point USA founder was fatally shot while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University.

In a sign of Kirk's close ties to the administration, he will be the first recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in Trump's second term. The president also spoke at at Kirk's funeral in September, calling him a "great American hero" and "martyr" for freedom, while Vice President JD Vance and Kirk's wife, Erica, accompanied his body home to Arizona on Air Force Two.

Trump wrote in a social media post hours before the event that he was moving the ceremony from the White House's East Room to the Rose Garden to accommodate a crowd he said would be "so big and enthusiastic."

The Presidential Medal of Freedom was established by President John F. Kennedy in 1963 for individuals making exceptional contributions to the country's security or national interests or to world peace, or being responsible for significant cultural endeavors or public and private initiatives.

Tuesday's event follows Trump returning to the U.S. in the pre-dawn hours — after a whirlwind trip to Israel and Egypt to celebrate a ceasefire agreement in Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza that his administration was instrumental in brokering.

Trump has awarded a string of presidential medals going back to his first term, including to golf legend Tiger Woods, ex-football coach Lou Holtz and conservative economist Arthur Laffer as well as to Yankees Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera and conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, the latter of which came during the 2020 State of the Union. He awarded posthumous medals to Babe Ruth and Elvis.

This term, Trump has also announced his intentions to award the medals to Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and a close former adviser, and to Ben Carson, who served as Trump's first-term secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Kirk founded Turning Point USA in 2012. Trump has praised Kirk as one of the key reasons he was reelected.

But Kirk's politics were also often divisive. He sharply criticized gay and transgender rights while inflaming racial tensions. Kirk also repeated Trump's false claims that former Vice President Kamala Harris was directly responsible for all immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally and called George Floyd, a Black man whose killing by a Minneapolis police officer sparked a national debate over racial injustice, a "scumbag."

Prince Harry has reportedly lobbied the Home Office about his security in the United Kingdom.

The Duke of Sussex allegedly didn't tell King Charles, who is "exhausted" and feels "betrayed."

A courtier claims "Charles is furious."

Looks like the newly minted reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles is officially in jeopardy—all because Harry is (understandably!) concerned about his security in the United Kingdom.

Turns out Prince Harry wants an official security review, a move that has blindsided palace aides. One insider tells Rob Shuter's ShuterScoop, "It's the same fight on repeat. Harry won't accept he's no longer entitled to taxpayer-funded protection. The King's exhausted."

Harry allegedly wrote to the Home Office without informing the palace, and now "Charles felt betrayed. He thought they were rebuilding trust. Then Harry dragged everyone back into the drama."Another courtier says "Charles is furious. He can't change the rules, and Harry won't stop pushing."

Sources also tell the Sunday Times that Harry's decision to approach the Home Office about security "complicates things for the King," and note, "It's not going to help matters. We're back to where we were."

Their insider claims that "the King cannot and will not lobby" for Harry, adding, "If you put yourself in the mind of a father who is repeatedly told he should and could intervene, that is not very helpful, complicates matters and shows a lack of understanding about the reality of the situation."

Jenna Bush Hager recalled how Reese Witherspoon warned her not to have a third child

Both stars now have three kids and discussed Witherspoon advising Bush Hager against the decision when she already had a third kid

Witherspoon's concern surrounded the idea of having three teenagers at once

Reese Witherspoon can't really fault Jenna Bush Hager for not following her parenting advice because she didn't follow it either.

Witherspoon, 49, is mom to three kids — Ava, 26, Deacon, 21, and Tennessee, 13 — but when Bush Hager, 43, interviewed her years ago, she was against the idea of the TV personality having a third child.

"You may not remember this, but I once interviewed you and I told you I was maybe going to have a third baby," Bush Hager reminded Witherspoon on Today with Jenna & Friends on Tuesday, Oct. 14. "And you were like, 'You can't do that.' And I'm like, 'You have three children!' "

The Morning Show star said that her first reaction to Bush Hager's desire to have a third kid was "Why?"

Bush Hager said that Witherspoon warned her that she'd one day have "three teenagers" if she tried for a third kid.

"I said, 'One day there will be three teenagers.' Oh my God, that's such good advice, why didn't you listen to me?!" Witherspoon asked Bush Hager, who laughed and replied, "I don't know. But why didn't you listen to yourself?"

Witherspoon quipped that her decision to have three kids was "clearly insanity." She joked, "I've been really lucky. I feel so blessed and tired, so, so, so, so tired."

The Oscar winner shares Ava and Deacon with her ex Ryan Phillippe and son Tennessee with her ex Jim Toth.

As for how she prepares her son Tennessee to be a teenager navigating the world of social media, Witherspoon said it's a collaborative effort. "You have to have a strategy," she said. "You have to work with your coparenting partners and your extended family and your schools to make sure we're doing what's right for their mental health."

As for Bush Hager, she and husband Henry Hager share three kids — daughters Mila, 12, Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 6.

She's previously opened up about three being the "perfect" number of kids for their household. "I'm pretty sure I've come to terms that three, even though it's an imperfect number, is the perfect number for our house," she told Savannah Guthrie on the show in March.

CANNES — "The Walking Dead" has many miles to go before the walkers — and everyone else — call it a night. That was the message of the retrospective panel on the franchise at Mipcom to mark the 15th anniversary of the TV series' premiere on AMC Network.

Scott Gimple, writer, executive producer and the steward of the "Walking Dead" universe, said the most recent spinoff series, "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon," is but one example of the additional material to come from the universe based on the graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman. "Daryl Dixon" bowed in 2023 and was renewed in July for a final fourth season that is in production in Spain.

Gimple likened the storytelling possibilities to the intricate canon of stories and characters assembled by DC and Marvel in the comic book realm. "It was all one story. It went in all sorts of different directions," Gimple said. "Even with characters who have done so many things, we can put them in different worlds where they have different challenges and evolve them through these challenges."

The stars of "Daryl Dixon," Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, were on hand for the panel was AMC Networks president Dan McDermott. The 40-minute session was moderated by self-proclaimed superfan Aisha Tyler, who directed four episodes of "The Walking Dead" and has appeared in spinoff series "Fear the Walking Dead." "The Walking Dead" mothership series ran 11 seasons, concluding in 2022.

Tyler told the crowd she's always trumpeted her love of "Walking Dead" even among those who look down their nose at genre fare. "It's not abut the zombies, it's about the peple. This is a show asking big questions about what it means to be human," Tyler said. (That said, there were performers costumed in gory detail as the show's famous "walkers" lurching around the hallway outside the Grand Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals where the session was held.)

McDermott echoed Gimple's faith in the Walking Dead universe's stamina. "Daryl Dixon" revolves around the story that begins when Reedus' longtime fan-favorite "Walking Dead" character winds up in France where he encounters an entirely new dynamic among resistance movements et al.

"It's quite possible we could see this group up here 15 years from now," he said. "There are many more continents to visit. It's about how [the characters] evolve over time. It's really exciting to see how far we can take this." Gimple added that taking "Walking Dead" stalwart characters to new lands such as France and Spain opens up a treasure box of storytelling possibilities. "In a lot of ways, [the locations] give the story to us," Gimple said.

McBride noted that the emotional tone of "Daryl Dixon" has been markedly different for her character, Carole Peletier, who remains back in the U.S. searching for Daryl. But Peletier endured one tragedy after another during her 11 seasons on "Walking Dead."

"She is a little bit lighter. I like getting to explore that for her. It's different going to work ehen you can laugh. When carole's laughing it's different going to work," McBride said.

Tyler pressed Reedus on the physical nature of his job. "I've had so many real black eyes on the show that Scott has to write them in the script from time to time," Reedus said. "I loved shooting Georgia — you were just drenched. It was so humid there. It's part of the show….It's very physically demanding. We all care so much about it. It's just part of the job."

The panel was introduced by AMC Networks CEO Kristin Dolan. She noted that AMC executives were cautioned back in 2010 when the series premiered on Halloween night that they should have moderate expectations for the ratings. After all, it was a genre thriller, and a zombie apocalypse thriller at that. "We were told it was a niche of a niche," Dolan said. "It turned out to be quite a niche."

Katy Perry is no longer keeping mum about her romance with a new man.

The singer, 40, broke her silence on what appeared to be a blossoming love between her and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Her cheeky comment came on the heels of Justin's ex-wife Sophie Grégoire posting a cryptic message about "letting go" of love.

Katy Perry is currently on her Lifetimes world tour, which will conclude in December this year.

In the middle of the tour, the singer managed to find time for dates with Justin Trudeau.

The pair were captured getting handsy on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.

On Monday night, the Roar singer took the stage at London's O2 Arena and shared a little something about the kind of men she falls for.

Praising the crowd for their energy, Katy said, "London, England, you're like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?"

The pop diva made a cheeky comment about the men she used to fall for during the concert

"No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore," she quipped.

At some point during the concert, a fan dropped down on one knee and proposed to her right on stage.

The pop diva responded, saying her answer might have been different if the proposal had come a couple of days before.

"You really should have asked me about 48 hours ago," she said.

Katy hinted at new developments in her love life when a fan proposed to her onstage

Speculation about Katy's budding romance with the former political leader kicked off in July after they were spotted having dinner in Montreal.

Justin also attended the singer's Lifetimes Tour concert at Montreal's Bell Centre in July.

Their meet-ups came shortly after the Firework singer and British actor Orlando Bloom announced their split.

Justin and Katy were seen tangled together in a PDA-filled moment on a yacht in September. An eagle-eyed tourist clicked photos at the time, and they were published on October 12.

Prior to connecting with Katy, Justin was married to Sophie Grégoire for 18 years and welcomed three children with her. They announced their separation in 2023

When Katy and Justin first began hanging out, the singer was not looking to date anyone because she was "navigating too many things." But they continued staying in touch.

"They have many shared interests and a lot of talk about, but Katy was navigating too many things to even think about dating then," a source told People.

However, Justin has "been pursuing her since" their meet-up in Montreal, the source told the outlet.

"He even flew to California to see her during a tour break," they added. "They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He's been very respectful."

Justin's "persistent" advances seemingly worked, as the pair are now fully "exclusive," another source told Mirror.

The source also said Katy was "initially scared" about things moving too fast but later "didn't seem to care" that they were photographed on the yacht.

"Justin was persistent when it came to dating Katy," the source added.

Sources said Justin has "been pursuing her" since their initial meet-up in Montreal

"She enjoys his company and thinks he is incredibly smart, but she was initially scared to get into anything so fast, or even at all, after her breakup and she was also focusing on her world tour," they continued.

"But Justin continued to be present, continued showing up and wanting to be with her."

As the pair's romance appeared to be heating up, Justin's ex-wife Sophie shared a cryptic message on social media about letting go of love.

"Sometimes we forget that nothing we love is ever meant to be kept," she said. "The people, the places, even the moments that once felt infinite, right?"

"Time asks us not to cling to them, but yet we do," she added.

The former TV host said she sometimes holds on because it feels "safer" than letting go.

"But, love was never about possession, it was always about presence. The present moment and when we release what we cannot keep, we make space for the truth of connection, intimacy, the memory, for the lesson," she continued.

A post shared by Sophie Grégoire Trudeau (@sophiegregoiretrudeau)

Sophie went on to talk about the grief she felt over losing her father.

"A single smile can echo across a lifetime, grief also lives there. I lost my dad in the past year, and I feel that with grief also comes grace," she said.

Maybe the "deepest teaching" of love was to "stand open hearted in the face of impermanence," she said in the pensive post.

"We honor what has been and to trust that letting go is also a form of keeping inside us where no loss can erase it in a way," she added.

"Two rich, beautiful, middle-aged divorced falling stars SHOULD be fooling around with each other on a yacht. Good for both of them," one commenter said online
