Five days later, search efforts expanded to include an exploration of a nearly 2,000-acre forest preserve

A mother of four has been missing for a week after she was seen leaving her Illinois home. As search efforts continue, there has been no sign of the 46-year-old woman — even after a multi-agency exploration of a nearby forest preserve.

Olasinmibo "Sinmi" Abosede was last seen on Wednesday, July 30, at around 9:20 a.m. local time walking away from her house on Sudbury Street in Naperville, the Naperville Police Department said in a statement on Facebook.

The woman had a water bottle in her hand, and had left her cell phone and credit cards in the residence. She was reported missing by her family that same day, authorities said. No foul play is suspected.

After the mother was reported missing, her home and the immediate surrounding area were searched as part of standard procedure, Commander Rick Krakow of the Naperville Police Department tells PEOPLE.

By Monday, Aug. 4, authorities conducted a thorough search of Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve in hopes of discovering the whereabouts of Abosede, who is classified as a missing endangered person.

"It's so large, and the conditions are so dense with the high grass, that we sought the assistance from an emergency management agency to assist us with the ground search," Krakow says. "That takes coordination."

Dozens of trained volunteers, K-9 teams, drones and local law enforcement explored the 1,829-acre preserve, which is not far from Abosede's home, authorities said. While the mom of four wasn't found, search efforts will continue.

"This is just not something that's heard of here, where we live," a neighbor told ABC affiliate WLS. "So, for us, you know, yeah, it's just a little bit different. Having news helicopters flying over half the day, it's definitely a little alarming."

He continued, "I hope they find her, and hopefully, you know, provide some comfort and solace to the family here really soon. It's obviously very tragic and upsetting."

Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres addressed residents' worries after Monday's search.

"I understand that the uncertainty surrounding Sinmi's disappearance is concerning, and I assure you that this department is doing everything we can to find Sinmi," he said in a statement shared on Facebook.

He continued, "We will continue to follow up on any leads and lean on the expertise of our partners at [Naperville Emergency Management Agency] and surrounding law enforcement agencies, who I want to thank for their dedicated efforts today."

He urged people to keep a look out for Abosede, and to continue to share her picture.

"The more eyes we have looking out for her, the better," the police chief added.

Abosede was last seen wearing a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, gray sweatpants, a black head scarf and black Crocs. Anyone who sees her is urged to call 911. People with information about her location are asked to call the Naperville Police Investigation Division at 630-548-1421.
