And just like that, a universe of fun, friendship and fashion is coming to an end.

Michael Patrick King, showrunner of the "Sex and the City" sequel "And Just Like That ...," announced on Instagram that the series will end after the third season concludes. Fans have a two-part finale to savor later this month.

"It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years," he wrote.

King said he decided to wrap things up while writing the season's final episode. He then split the finale into two episodes. The last episode will drop Aug. 14.

In a long, heartfelt Instagram post of her own, Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the iconic Carrie Bradshaw character in both series, called the sequel "all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent." She included a montage of Carrie's fashion and moments.

Parker added: "I am better for every single day I spent with you. It will be forever before I forget. The whole thing. Thank you all. I love you so."

Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon returned for the sequel. Largely absent was Kim Cattrall and her Samantha Jones, though Cattrall did make a brief, uncredited cameo in the Season 2 finale. Samantha's absence was explained as a move to London. Reports of pay and personal disputes bubbled over behind the scenes.

The original series ran from 1998 to 2004, taking pop culture by storm with the style and drama of the 30-something friends in New York City. They shopped. They brunched. They dated, leaning on each other as Parker's Carrie, a writer, chronicled it all.

The sequel picks up their lives in their mid-50s, to mixed reviews. Carrie became a widow. Nixon's Miranda Hobbes came out as queer. Davis' Charlotte York Goldenblatt copes with husband Harry's prostate cancer diagnosis.

Fashion remains ever-present, including all those iconic heels still clacking through New York's brownstone-lined streets.

In her farewell post, Parker wrote of her stylish Carrie that she, "Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City." She called Carrie "my professional heartbeat for 27 years."

Micah Parsons requests trade from Cowboys after contract negotiations fall apart: 'I no longer want to be here'

Micah Parsons wants a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. The star pass rusher released a lengthy statement Friday, detailing his frustrations with the team's approach to negotiating his next contract.

Parsons posted his statement on X with the caption, "Thank you Dallas." In the note, Parsons detailed the timeline of his contact negotiations with the team. Early in the note, Parsons wrote, "I no longer want to be here." He then claimed he and his agent reached out to the Cowboys prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season and again after the 2024 season about a new contract, only to be ignored by the team.

Parsons then confirmed earlier reports suggesting he met with team owner Jerry Jones in March "to talk about leadership." At that meeting, Parsons claimed Jones started to discuss Parsons' next contract. Parsons said he engaged in a back-and-forth with Jones over contract details, but did not feel it was "a formal negotiation." At the end of that meeting, Parsons said he told Jones his agent would reach out to further discuss the new deal. When Parsons' agent got in touch with the team, the Cowboys went silent, according to Parsons.

At the end of the note, Parsons said the Cowboys have yet to speak with his agent regarding a new contract. He then confirmed he submitted a trade request to team COO and co-owner Stephen Jones.

"Up to today the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract. Not one demand has been made by my agent about money years or anything else. Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally."

Despite that request, the Cowboys reportedly have no desire to trade Parsons, according to Diana Russini of The Athletic.

Parsons, 26, has one year left on his current contract. He's set to make $24 million in 2025 before hitting the free-agent market.

Since being drafted by the Cowboys with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons has emerged as one of the best defenders in the league. He's made the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons and is a two-time first-team All-Pro selection.

Despite his contract situation, Parsons showed up at voluntary workouts in April to lend his support to new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Parsons also showed up for training camp, though he has not participated in practices due to his contract situation.

Friday's trade request comes a day after Parsons tweeted out a GIF implying it would be his final season with the Cowboys. Prior to Parsons releasing his statement Friday, at least two Cowboys defenders showed support for the star pass rusher by changing their social media avatars to pictures that included Parsons.

Star receiver CeeDee Lamb weighed in on the situation, telling the Cowboys to "just pay the man" in a post on X.

BOSTON (AP) — Carlos Correa wasn't going to waive his no-trade clause for any other team.

But when the Twins told him that they would be rebuilding for the rest of the season – and probably beyond – Correa OK'd a deal back to Houston, where he still owned the house from his first go-'round with the Astros.

"My wife hates the cold," the 2017 World Series champion said before making his Astros return in Friday night's 2-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox. "We kept the house in Houston just to come back to, and our family and friends are there. So we live there, so it works perfectly.

"You never want to burn bridges in this game. You never know how things are going to end up panning out," Correa said. "My relationship in Minnesota (is) fantastic, same here in Houston when I left. And now you see that I'm back."

The top pick in the 2012 amateur draft and 2015 AL Rookie of the Year, Correa was beloved in Houston as part of the homegrown core that helped the franchise go from laughingstock to perennial contenders. A two-time All-Star in his seven years with the Astros, he helped the franchise to six playoff appearances, three AL pennants and its first World Series title.

He signed with Minnesota as a free agent in 2022 and made another All-Star team but just one playoff appearance, in 2023. On Thursday, with the Twins languishing in fourth in the AL Central and ninth in the race for three wild-card berths, they sold off anything of value to look toward the future.

"After talking to the front office in Minnesota, I understood that the direction where the organization was going was not the one that I was there for," Correa said. "So that's when we agreed that it was best for both parties to just make this trade happen."

Houston sent minor-league pitcher Matt Mikulski to Minnesota in return for Correa and agreed to pay $33 million of the more than $100 million remaining on his contract.

"That was never a thought until I saw the rumors, and I texted him and he said it was real," said second baseman Jose Altuve, one of the holdovers from Correa's first stint in Houston. "That's when we started as a team getting excited about it."

The Astros, who at the time of the trade deadline led the AL West by five games over the Seattle Mariners, also picked up outfielder Jesús Sánchez and minor leaguers Chase Jaworsky and Esmil Valencia. Sanchez, who played left field and batted third on Friday night, had two hits.

Correa was hitless in four at-bats while playing third and batting cleanup. He had played 1,186 games at shortstop in his major league career, and none at third base; he did play some third base for Puerto Rico during the World Baseball Classic.

"I'm going to be putting a lot of work at third base and getting to know the position," Correa said before taking grounders during batting practice. "I grew accustomed to shortstop and it's going to a fun challenge."

Astros manager Joe Espada said he was at the movies with his children on Thursday afternoon when the news came in about Correa.

"A lot of stuff happened on my off day, but it was a really good off day," Espada said. "I didn't finish the movie. The phone kept ringing, but I didn't mind. It happened really quickly. We added all those players in a matter of minutes. And I was very excited. Very, very happy with the outcome."

The return of college football is almost here.

Unlike last season, there's not much new with the College Football Playoff this year — and the format may not be changing again soon with conferences divided on the best long-term solution for the sport.

So in the meantime, the 12-team playoff awaits again this season, with one change: The top four seeds will be the top four teams in the rankings no matter if they're conference champs or not. (Last year, the top four conference champions received the four first-round byes, resulting in Boise State and Arizona State getting byes despite being ranked No. 9 and No. 12, respectively.)

With that little bit of housekeeping out of the way, here's everything you ahead of an action-packed 2025 college football season.

CFP future still up for grabs as Big Ten pushes auto-bid format

The conferences are currently at an impasse as the Big Ten is adamant in its support for a playoff format that no one else likes. The conference is advocating for a 16-team playoff that guarantees four bids each to the Big Ten and SEC, while the ACC and Big 12 each get two bids. The remaining four spots would be reserved for the top Group of Five champion and three at-large teams.

The 2025 season could be a referendum on many coaches.

Labubu-shaped bounce houses. Labubu-themed drinks. A chance to meet and greet a life-size Labubu.

This was the scene at a recent meetup at an outdoor shopping center in southern California, where dozens of people gathered for the chance to get their hands on one of the wildly popular fluffy dolls.

Vendor stalls, prepped with their Labubu-themed merchandise, lined the parking lot of the Stonewood center in Downey, a city in south-east Los Angeles. Children bounced on the white trampoline featuring pink and blue streamers where they posed with cutouts of a chestnut Labubu, providing pops of color for the perfect photo opportunity. Children and adults strolled with bags of Labubus and other figurine collectibles sold by Pop Mart, the Chinese toy retailer. Dozens crowded the tent of a reseller who was raffling away "blind bags" that contained a mysterious mix of different versions and styles of Labubu.

Since hitting the market in 2019, Labubus have become a global phenomenon. Their popularity has been fueled by social media posts of live unboxings that showcase rare collections. Launches of new editions sell out on Pop Mart within minutes, sending the company's profits soaring over the past year.

Celebrities like Rihanna, Emma Roberts and Lisa only fed the frenzy by clipping the dolls on to their handbags, branding them as the new "luxury" accessories and leading fans to do whatever it takes to get their hands on one.

Avid collectors say that acquiring the dolls has become almost like a "social currency", according to one meetup attender, with the trend showing no signs of slowing down even as the prices climb, and knock-offs of the dolls become a growing problem.

"If you know about it, you're in and if you don't, you're outside of it. It's definitely social currency," says Steven Limones.

Limones came to the meetup with his longtime friend Joshua Fornes, to build their collection of Pop Mart figurines. Limones said his passion for collecting began when his husband was given a Labubu by Fornes for Christmas. "I was like, 'Oh, that's cute.' And then I saw [the British stylist] Harry Lambert [wearing] a Labubu on Boxing Day. So the day after Christmas, I thought, 'Now I like it.'"

Labubu comes from the imagination of creator Kasing Lung who was inspired by Nordic fairytales after moving to the Netherlands from Hong Kong at the age of seven. It wasn't until 2019 that Lung partnered with Pop Mart to bring the unique creatures to life.

Each Labubu doll is featured in different collections, and sold in "blind boxes" that only reveal their contents when opened, adding to the thrill for collectors. Each collection usually features six color options and one "secret doll". The chances of drawing each option in a set is 1/6 , with Pop Mart guaranteeing no repeats within a purchased set.

The small, monster-like creatures have pointed ears similar to an elf, but with the devilish twist of serrated teeth. Nine of them to be exact. Any other number and you may have a "lafufu" on your hands.

"It's this cute thing, but there's an edge to it that not everyone likes", says Limones.

Labubu's rising popularity has ultimately led to a rise in price – a reality that hasn't sat well with many loyal fans. Until recently, Labubus sold for $21.99. A month ago, Pop Mart increased that price to $27.99 without formally making an announcement, leading customers to voice their frustrations on forums such as Reddit. Some suspected that Donald Trump's tariffs on China could be to blame, but the company denied that in a statement posted to TikTok live and said that the reason for the price increase was "based on our brand overall operational strategy to ensure we continue delivering our high quality products for you guys in the future".

Still, getting your hands on a Labubu won't get easier anytime soon. Pop Mart has eliminated certain Labubu launches on their main website, making them accessible only through the Pop Mart app in order to reduce bots and discourage resellers. However, users have reported the app crashing during the checkout process. Pop Mart has also put a pause on selling products in stores, due to reports of fights breaking out between customers over the dolls.

Joshua Fornes was among those expressing frustration about how Pop Mart has changed the way it launches new dolls, pivoting their format from scheduled launches on the Pop Mart app and website to random drop times.

"Now it's just incredibly difficult," he says. "You can't even go to stores any more and wait in line because it gets too hectic, because people are crazy trying to buy them."

Pop Mart did not respond to a Guardian request for comment before publication.

Resellers are also struggling with price increases from the wholesale suppliers they buy from overseas. Princess Bautista of Amari collectibles, a vendor at the Labubu meet and greet, began reselling in February after becoming invested in collecting the popular dolls herself. She said she had been personally feeling the effects of the price increase on her business. Some of her suppliers, she said, had tripled their price for popular collections, such as the Exciting Macaron series.

"I was gonna give up about, like, two, three weeks ago, because of the prices," she said. Despite that, she plans to keep going because the "hype" is still driving sales. "That's why I still buy them for whatever price. Customers will still buy them."

Despite the rising prices and changes in the launch process, dedicated buyers and sellers at the meetup said the Labubu craze wasn't slowing down just yet. Whether the trend will repeat a history similar to the Beanie Babies before them remains to be seen.

Steve remarks: "The Labubu is here. It's here for now. Who knows if it's here to stay. Enjoy it."

Stevie Nicks has announced that she'll be rescheduling her upcoming tour dates in August and September due to a fractured shoulder that requires ample recovery time.

The news was revealed on Nicks' Instagram account, announcing the dates for the rescheduled shows. "Due to a recent injury resulting in a fractured shoulder that will require recovery time, Stevie Nicks' scheduled concerts in August and September will be rescheduled. Please note that October dates will be unaffected," reads the post. "Stevie looks forward to seeing everyone soon and apologizes to the fans for this inconvenience."

Nicks was originally slated to play nine dates across August and September, with shows scheduled for Brooklyn's Barclays Center and Boston's TD Garden. The rescheduled tour dates will take place from late October through mid-December. The previously announced October performances will occur as planned.

Most recently, Nicks and her Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham announced that their legendary album "Buckingham Nicks," which has been out of print in any format in the U.S. since the early 1980s, will be released in all formats on September 19. The album was released in 1973 before the two joined Fleetwood Mac.

Netflix has canceled the Arnold Schwarzenegger series "Fubar" after two seasons, Variety has confirmed. The series was a hit for the streamer in Season 1, back in 2023, but failed to perform as well during its second season, which premiered on June 12 — more than two years after its initial run. The show managed to make Nielsen's streaming originals top 10 for the week of June 16, after its premiere, but then fell off the chart the following week.

Here was the logline to the series: "Luke Brunner is a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. After his last mission in saving another operative – who just so happened to be his daughter – he's back and face to face with new villains. This one is an old flame from Luke's past who threatens to destroy the world…if she doesn't destroy his life first."

Those closest to the singer are reflecting on the reason behind the biggest misconception about her death

The death of the legendary Mamas & Papas singer sent shockwaves across the world on July 29, 1974.

No one was more shocked, however, than the people closest to Cass Elliot. Those who knew and loved her were in disbelief at the news that Elliot had died at age 32.

Elliot died of a heart attack that, in the aftermath of her death, many would suspect was related to substance abuse and dangerous dieting techniques. At the time, however, rumors went rampant that the singer died after choking on a ham sandwich.

Friend Sue Cameron previously told PEOPLE about the first time she'd heard that story, having called Elliot's apartment after hearing the news.

"Her manager, Allan Carr, picked up the phone, and he was hysterical. Allan said, 'You've got to tell them that she died choking on a ham sandwich. You must go to your typewriter and write that. There's a half of a ham sandwich on her nightstand.' "

"I didn't ask any questions," Cameron, then a columnist at The Hollywood Reporter, shared. She later elaborated on the experience and the story behind the rumor in her 2018 book Hollywood Secrets and Scandals. "I knew she didn't choke on a ham sandwich. I didn't believe Allan, but I thought just do it because something was wrong."

"The ham sandwich went worldwide," Cameron told PEOPLE. "Many people don't realize that it's not even true. Even though I have said — and written — it's not true, it still goes on. I never thought it would last as long as it has."

An autopsy revealed Elliot had died of a heart attack; No drugs were found in her system, but there was still talk of substance abuse in her inner circle.

On the day Elliot died, Cameron wrote her obituary and then rushed to the singer's house.

"The gates were open. The front door was unlocked. I just went there to protect anything because sometimes, on the day a famous person dies, people try to get into the house. Something in my head told me to go upstairs. Why lie about a ham sandwich? So I went up to her bedroom and looked in the cabinets, and it was completely cleaned out," Cameron says.

"Many years later, I was a guest at a party, and there was a well-known model from that era [there]. Somehow, the topic of Cass came up, and she said, 'I was the one who was there and cleaned out the drugs.' It was odd because it was 30 years later. I must have arrived right after her."

For Elliot's daughter, Owen Elliot-Kugell, the rumor has been an ugly and painful stain on the singer's legacy. In her 2024 memoir My Mama, Cass, Elliot-Kugell shared her hatred for the rumor.

"In my younger years, when people would talk to me about my mom, it was always about the stupid sandwich," she told PEOPLE.

"I would go over to kids' houses after school and eventually one of their parents would ask me 'Did your mom really die choking on a ham sandwich?' First of all, the chutzpah to say that to a child is just crazy but it happened a lot. So I felt it was my duty to figure out what that story was all about."

It was through this process that Elliot-Kugell learned Carr was hoping to offset any other rumors that might arise, especially about drugs, by sharing that detail with Cameron.

After learning the story's origin, Elliot-Kugell began to see things in a different light.

"So many of my mother's peers had died from drug overdoses — Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison. And I think Allan was afraid they'd make the same assumption," she says.

"I really believe they were protecting her legacy. And they were trying to protect me. And in a weird way, I'm grateful for that crazy story. As much as it caused me grief, and people made jokes, I now realize it kept her relevant and ready to shine again."

Multiple medical groups say they have been barred from working on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's panel of vaccine advisers.

It comes weeks after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fired the original panel of independent experts and replaced them with his own handpicked members -- many of whom have expressed skeptical views on vaccines.

Liaisons representing major medical groups were historically invited to meetings of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) as non-voting members to provide their independent expertise in respective fields. In a joint statement, the groups said they have now been excluded "from the process of reviewing scientific evidence end informing vaccine recommendations."

A total of eight groups signed on to the statement, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the National Medical Association among others.

In a statement provided to ABC News, an HHS spokesperson said: "Under the old ACIP, outside pressure to align with vaccine orthodoxy limited asking the hard questions. The old ACIP members were plagued by conflicts of interest, influence, and bias. We are fulfilling our promise to the American people to never again allow those conflicts to taint vaccine recommendations."

The statement went on to say: "Experts will continue to be included based on relevant experience and expertise, not because of what organization they are with."

In their statement, the medical organizations said they learned the groups will be excluded from the panel's work in an email late Thursday and noted they were "deeply disappointed and alarmed" by the move.

"To remove our deep medical expertise from this vital and once transparent process is irresponsible, dangerous to our nation's health, and will further undermine public and clinician trust in vaccines," the statement read.

TORONTO (Reuters) -Canada is working with the United States to "deal with" countries reluctant to accept deportees as both nations increase efforts to ship migrants back to their home countries, according to a government document seen by Reuters.

Since President Donald Trump began his second term in January, the United States has cracked down on migrants in the country illegally. But the U.S. has at times struggled to remove people as quickly as it would like in part because of countries' unwillingness to accept them.

As Canada has increased deportations, which reached a decade-high last year, it has also run up against countries reluctant to accept deportees. Canadian officials issued a single-use travel document in June to a Somali man they wanted to deport because Somalia would not provide him with travel documents.

In a redacted message to an unknown recipient, cited in a February 28 email, the director general of international affairs for Canada's Immigration Department wrote, "Canada will also continue working with the United States to deal with countries recalcitrant on removals to better enable both Canada and the United States to return foreign nationals to their home countries."

The department referred questions about the message to the Canada Border Services Agency, which declined to specify how Canada and the U.S. were cooperating, when the cooperation started, and whether the working relationship had changed this year.

"Authorities in Canada and the United States face common impediments to the removal of inadmissible persons, which can include uncooperative foreign governments that refuse the return of their nationals or to issue timely travel documents," an agency spokesperson wrote in an email.

"While Canada and the United States do not have a formal bilateral partnership that is specific to addressing this challenge, the Canada Border Services Agency continues to work regularly and closely with United States law enforcement partners on matters of border security."

When the email was sent, then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in his last days in office before being replaced in March by Prime Minister Mark Carney. The Canada-U.S. relationship was strained by Trump's threat of tariffs, which he said were partly a response to migrants illegally entering the U.S. from Canada.

The spokesperson added the CBSA has committed to deporting more people, from 18,000 in the last fiscal year to 20,000 in each of the next two years.

Immigration has become a contentious topic in Canada as some politicians blame migrants for a housing and cost-of-living crisis.

The rise in Canada's deportations largely reflects an increased focus on deporting failed refugee claimants. Refugee lawyers say that could mean some people are sent back to countries where they face danger while they try to contest their deportation.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Cleveland Guardians' clubhouse had some notable changes on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 1.

The lockers for closer Emmanuel Clase and starting pitcher Luis L. Ortiz were cleared out, according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic.

Both players were placed on leave in July, related to an ongoing investigation into gambling by Major League Baseball. If they are found guilty, both could potentially receive a lifetime ban.

It was not made clear if a decision had been reached involving the two players or if it is just potential locker changes in the clubhouse following the conclusion of the MLB trade deadline on July 31.

Why was Luis L. Ortiz placed on leave?

Ortiz was placed on leave on July 3 after two of his pitches received unusual gambling activity.

Both were sliders outside of the strike zone at the start of an inning in games played in June.

Some gambling websites allow users to bet on the first pitch of an MLB at-bat.

Clase's name surfaced during the investigation that involved Ortiz.

The league is looking to see if Clase had violated the MLB's gambling policy.

Clase has been considered as one of the league's best closers and his name was mentioned in trade rumors leading up to the deadline.

While the Guardians could have received a nice return in a trade for the three-time All-Star, instead, they still have Clase under contract with some uncertainty about his future.

ESPN has reached a deal with the NFL to purchase RedZone, NFL Network and other league holdings, The Athletic reported on Friday.

The NFL will receive equity in ESPN that "is potentially worth billions" in exchange, according to the report. An official announcement is expected next week, ending a four-year period of complicated, on-and-off negotiations.

Both sides declined to provide comment to The Athletic.

In addition to RedZone and NFL Network, ESPN will gain access to seven more regular-season games and the NFL's fantasy football operations, as well as the potential to integrate sports betting and other special features.

The NFL's equity stake in ESPN could be as much as 10 percent, CNBC first reported and The Athletic confirmed.

An ESPN-NFL deal would require regulatory approval, a process that could take up to a year to complete.

The two sides already have a cozy relationship. ESPN pays the NFL about $2.7 billion per year to air a total of 25 games, including "Monday Night Football." The network also holds the rights to the Super Bowls in 2027 and 2031.

Friday's reported agreement comes as ESPN is preparing to launch its direct-to-consumer service, with subscribers paying $29.99 per month to bypass cable and satellite providers to view all of the network's programming through the ESPN app.

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte aren't happy with the way Team USA has performed at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. Phelps and Lochte expressed their disappointment with the team, sharing an Instagram post proclaiming it was time to hold a funeral for USA Swimming.

Lochte was the first to share the image, which features people in mourning at a funeral. The image contains a tombstone, which reads: "In loving memory of United States Swimming."

The tombstone then lists the dates 1980-2025, suggesting USA Swimming lived 45 years before dying in 2025. Under those dates lies an epitaph, which reads, "They set the bar high — until they stopped reaching for it."

It's unclear whether Lochte found the image elsewhere or asked for it to be generated. The image appears to be made by A.I.

Phelps shared the image on Instagram, adding his own critique of USA Swimming. Phelps' comment read, "Is this the wake up call USA Swimming needed? Let's find out....."

Lochte and Phelps opted to share the image during the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. Team USA got out to a slow start at the event, as multiple members of the team dealt with acute gastroenteritis.

Despite those early struggles, the team secured five gold medals as of Friday morning. That tied Team USA with Australia for the most swimming medals at the event. Team USA does own the most overall swimming medals at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, with 20.

That performance isn't good enough for Lochte and Phelps, who happen to know a thing or two about the sport. Phelps is widely celebrated as one of the best swimmers — and one of the best Olympic athletes — of all time. He won 23 gold medals, the most of any Olympian. He also holds the record for most gold medals in individual events, with 13. Long after his retirement, Phelps remains one of the most prominent names in the sport.

Lochte is a six-time Olympic gold medalist, winning events between 2004 and 2016. Two of Lochte's gold medals came in individual events. The other four came in relays, where Phelps was one of his teammates. The pair played a major role in Team USA's swimming dominance during their careers.

Between 2003 and 2022, Team USA secured the most gold medals in swimming at the World Championships every year they were held. Team USA finished second to Australia in 2023, ending that streak, but then bounced back to reclaim first at the 2024 Olympics.

Despite Team USA tying for the lead in gold medals and leading the pack with 20 overall swimming medals in 2025, Lochte and Phelps clearly view the squad's performance as a major disappointment.

According to a Billboard report, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's recent — and final — show raised more money than any charity concert in history...since the first-ever major benefit concert of its kind: The Concert for Bangladesh, organized by George Harrison, which took place 54 years ago today on August 1, 1971.

Years before Live Aid or Farm Aid or any other major musical benefits, Harrison joined forces with his friend and collaborator, Indian musician Ravi Shankar, to plan a pair of all-star concerts (both held on the same day at NYC's Madison Square Garden) in an attempt to generate both awareness and money for victims of war and famine in Bangladesh.

"It must have been in 1971 when I was in Los Angeles doing the Raga soundtrack album," Harrison said later, per Far Out Magazine. "Ravi was talking to me and telling me how he wanted to do a concert, but bigger than he normally did, so that he could raise maybe 25,000 dollars for the starving in Bangladesh."

"He asked if I could think of some way of helping, say, for instance, for me to come on and introduce it or maybe bring in Peter Sellers…something to help, anyway," he continued, adding, "Then he started to give me cuttings from magazines and newspapers, articles on the war and the poverty and I began to learn what it was about, and I though 'well, maybe I should help him do it.'"

Harrison rounded up an incredibly impressive roster of fellow musicians to play the concerts, including fellow Beatle Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Billy Preston.

"The Beatles had been trained to the view that if you're going to do it, you might as well do it big and why not make a million dollars," Harrison said.

The Concert for Bangladesh raised over $243,000 for UNICEF, though, as NPR reported, millions of dollars from subsequent record sales were held up by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service because the event's organizers failed to apply for nonprofit status, an issue that was later resolved.

In addition to the money raised, Shankar credited the concerts with bringing much-needed attention to a dire situation in the 1972 documentary The Concert for Bangladesh, saying, "Overnight, everybody knew the name of Bangladesh all over the world. Because it came out in all the newspapers everywhere. So it had a tremendous value to it."

"If you know about it, you're in and if you don't, you're outside of it. It's definitely social currency," says Steven Limones.

"It's this cute thing, but there's an edge to it that not everyone likes", says Limones.

"Now it's just incredibly difficult," he says. "You can't even go to stores any more and wait in line because it gets too hectic, because people are crazy trying to buy them."

Pop Mart did not respond to a Guardian request for comment before publication.

Steve remarks: "The Labubu is here. It's here for now. Who knows if it's here to stay. Enjoy it."

Welcome to Trendlines, your weekly installment of what's trending up and what's trending down in the world of sports.

This week, millions of Americans breathed a sigh of relief. No longer will they (and in this case me) be worried about whether their weekends would continue to be filled with boredom.

No, the NFL's Hall of Fame game marked the beginning of the preseason. It's the first sign that autumn is near and football is back.

Every new season means hope for teams that have never won a Super Bowl (like the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers, the Hall of Fame game participants).

It, unfortunately, also means that some classic teams that have recently struggled get another shot at rediscovering their greatness of yore.

And this is where we begin.

There are few things more delicious than "America's team" (and the quotes are there for a reason) falling flat on its face over and over again.

Can you believe Dallas hasn't appeared in or won a Super Bowl since the mid-1990s? There are people I work with who weren't even alive then.

The Cowboys were truly mediocre last year and they're hoping to bounce back this season under new coach Brian Schottenheimer. I don't know how Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones landed on Schottenheimer, but things aren't looking good for the team with a Lone Star.

Vegas odds put the Cowboys' chances of winning a Super Bowl this year at about 2%.

How very, very sad that Dallas' Super Bowl drought looks like it'll hit the big 3-0 after this season.

Trending down – New England Patriots' playoff wins: Down six seasons in a row

When the Patriots were winning all of those Super Bowls, the big question was whether quarterback Tom Brady or head coach Bill Belichick was more responsible.

Well, the Pats haven't won a playoff game since Brady left. Brady went on to win a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Belichick, on the other hand, is now coaching in college.

This has left the team from the Bay State in a world of hurt. They finished last season with more than three times as many losses as wins. They were so bad that they dumped their first-year head coach Jerod Mayo and brought in Mike Vrabel.

This season? The betting odds say that they will miss the playoffs again.

We're a long way from nobody being able to stop the Brady/Belichick duo.

Delicious.

Trending up – Buffalo Bills playoff wins: Up five seasons in a row

Although they lost last night, the Lions have one of the five best chances of winning a Super Bowl this season. They have a better shot than any team that's never won one, except for my Bills.

I used to joke that the Bills hadn't made the playoffs since before my bar mitzvah. The funniest jokes are always the true ones. They didn't make the playoffs from the 2000 season through the 2016 season.

Those days are gone. The Bills are basically in contention all the time now. They have won a playoff game in every season dating back to the 2020-2021 season. This five-year streak is the longest in the franchise's history.

The question is whether they can finally get to the mountain top with MVP quarterback Josh Allen. They have the second best chance, according to Vegas odds makers.

If Allen and the Bills can do it, then who says the Lions, Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings or Tennessee Titans won't be next?

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — In some tents and shelters in northern Gaza, emaciated children are held in their parents' arms. Their tiny arms and legs dangle limp. Their shoulder blades and ribs stick out from skeletal bodies slowly consuming themselves for lack of food.

Starvation always stalks the most vulnerable first. Kids with preexisting conditions, like cerebral palsy, waste away quickly because the high-calorie foods they need have run out, along with nutritional supplements.

But after months of Israeli blockade and turmoil in the distribution of supplies, children in Gaza with no previous conditions are also starting to die from malnutrition, aid workers and doctors say.

Over the past month, 28 children have died of malnutrition-related causes, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, though it's not known how many had other conditions. The ministry, part of the Hamas-run government, is staffed by medical professionals and its figures on war deaths are seen by the U.N. and other experts as the most reliable estimate of casualties.

Salem Awad was born in January with no medical problems, the youngest of six children, his mother Hiyam Awad said. But she was too weak from lack of food to breastfeed him.

For the first two months of Salem's life, there was a ceasefire in Gaza, and more aid entered, but even then it was hard to find milk for him, his mother said. In March, Israel cut off all food from entering the territory for more than 2 ½ months.

Since then, Salem has been wasting away. Now he weighs 4 kilograms (9 pounds), his mother said. "He just keeps losing weight. At the hospital, they say if he doesn't get milk, he could die," she said, speaking in the family's tent in Gaza City.

Israel has been allowing a trickle of aid into Gaza since late May. After an international outcry over increasing starvation, it introduced new measures last weekend it says are intended to increase the amount of food getting to the population, including airdrops and pauses in military operations in some areas. But so far, they have not had a significant effect, aid groups say.

Food experts warned this week the "worst-case scenario of famine is playing out in Gaza." The U.N. says the impact of hunger building for months is quickly worsening, especially in Gaza City and other parts of northern Gaza, where it estimates nearly one in five children is now acutely malnourished.

Across Gaza, more than 5,000 children were diagnosed with malnutrition this month, though that is likely an undercount, the U.N. says. Malnutrition was virtually nonexistent before the war. Doctors struggle to treat the children because many supplies have run out, the U.N. says.

Israel denies a famine is taking place or that children are starving. It says it has supplied enough food throughout the war and accuses Hamas of causing shortages by stealing aid and trying to control food distribution.

Humanitarian groups deny that significant diversion of food takes place. Throughout nearly 22 months of war, the number of aid trucks has been far short of the roughly 500 a day the U.N. says is needed.

The impact is seen most strongly in children with special needs — and those who have been grievously wounded in Israeli bombardment.

Mosab al-Dibs, 14, suffered a heavy head wound on May 7 when an airstrike hit next to his family's tent. For about two months, he has been at Shifa Hospital, largely paralyzed, only partly conscious and severely malnourished because the facility no longer has the supplies to feed him, said Dr. Jamal Salha.

Mosab's mother, Shahinaz al-Dibs, said the boy was healthy before the war, but that since he was wounded, his weight has fallen from 40 kilograms to less than 10 (88 to 22 pounds)

At his bedside, she moves his spindly arms to exercise them. The networks of tiny blue veins are visible through the nearly transparent skin over his protruding ribs. The boy's eyes dart around, but he doesn't respond.

His mother puts some bread soaked in water — the only food she can afford — into a large syringe and squirts it into his mouth in a vain attempt to feed him. Most of it dribbles out from his lips. What he needs is a nutrient formula suitable for tube feeding that the hospital doesn't have, Salha said.

At a school-turned-shelter for displaced people in Gaza City, Samah Matar cradles her son Yousef as his little brother Amir lies on a cushion beside her — both of them emaciated. The two boys have cerebral palsy and also need a special diet.

"Before the war, their health situation was good," said Matar. They could get the foods they needed, but now "all those things have disappeared, and their health has declined continually."

Yousef, 6 years old, has dropped from 14 kilograms (30 pounds) before the war to 9 kilograms (19 pounds) now. His 4-year-old brother, Amir, has shrunk from 9 kilograms to under 6 (19 to 13 pounds), she said.
