Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill didn't hold back his frustration on Fox Business Monday as he spoke about the ongoing Texas disaster and how Democrats have responded to it.

Flash flooding in central Texas on July 4 claimed at least 87 lives, including 27 children and counselors, after a sudden overnight storm caused the Guadalupe River to overflow and wash away parts of the Camp Mystic property where a youth summer camp for girls was underway. During an appearance on "The Evening Edit," Gill pointed out the need to show compassion to the victims.

"Instead of attacking President Trump for something he didn't do and had nothing to do with, we should be praying for the victims and for their families and for the rescue operators who are working in dangerous conditions right now," Gill said. "And I think that's the leadership that we see from the White House, and that's what the American people want to see."

Gill expressed outrage over how some Democrats have chosen to politicize the disaster.

"It's disgusting right now. This is a national emergency, and we are still pulling bodies out of the flooded water right now," Gill said. "So for Democrats to come in and falsely politicize this as a way of trying to score political points against the president, I think, is disgusting."

Gill said that the American people can see through such political maneuvers.

"They can see that this isn't the way that normal, decent people behave," Gill said.

Meteorologists debunked Democrats' anti-Trump flood narrative and said the National Weather Service (NWS) fulfilled its responsibilities. ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos reported staffing shortages at NWS offices in the region on Saturday.

Ryan Maue, a well-known meteorologist with a Ph.D. from Florida State University, said Stephanopoulos' reporting is "[g]rotesque misinformation." (RELATED: Irish Resident Rosie O'Donnell Chimes In From Across The Pond To Blame Trump For Texas Flooding)

"NWS in Texas had extra staff on duty and did their jobs admirably, as always," Maue said Sunday.

The NWS issued an initial flood watch early Thursday afternoon, according to the . They continued to send alerts and flash flood warnings early Friday morning, including an urgent warning at 4:03 a.m. that highlighted the potential for catastrophic damage and severe threats to human life.
