Ringo Starr's longtime touring group is called His All-Starr Band. The same "all-star" designation could be applied to the celebrities who turned out to celebrate the former Beatles drummer's 85th birthday on Monday, July 7 in Beverly Hills.

Among those making the scene were singer-songwriters Jackson Browne, Sam Phillips, Molly Tuttle, the pop duo Lucius, as well as producer/singer-songwriter T-Bone Burnett.

Those artists also performed some of Ringo's songs for the assemble celebrants. Tuttle did a version of the Ringo-sung Beatles classic "Octopus's Garden," while Browne performed "Act Naturally," the Buck Owens song that Ringo famously covered with the Beatles, according to a Facebook post by retired Los Angeles Times music journalist Randy Lewis.

There was also an impromptu version of "With a Little Help From My Friends," as well as a version of the Beatles' "Birthday," sung in Ringo's honor. At the song's conclusion, Ringo held up his phone and proclaimed, "Paul said it sounded great!," Lewis wrote in his post.

Among the other celebs at the big event were Ringo's wife, actress Barbara Bach, Eagles guitarist, solo artist and Ringo's brother-in-law Joe Walsh, Doors drummer John Densmore, former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Elton John guitarist Davey Johnstone, former Saturday Night Live cast member and drummer Fred Armisen, actor Ed Begley Jr., All-Starr Band and Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren, songwriter-producer Linda Perry, Breakfast With the Beatles radio host Chris Carter and many others.

Ringo addressed the crowd in footage posted on Instagram by music journalist Lyndsey Parker.

"I couldn't have dreamed I would end up here," Starr said. "I did end up in a good band, though. When you come to America, for us being British, it was like such a goal because all of the songs and the singers we loved came from America. We were there in New York and you go through, 'Maybe I should live in New York.' And then you come to California, 'Maybe California.' Next time, 'Definitely California!' I love it here. I love the people I love the attitude and the peace and love that's shown in this state is incredible, and all the other states are trying."
