The actress, 32, spoke with PEOPLE on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Smurfs and shared that her kids — son Kingston, 4, and daughter Jackson, 2 — are going to be very excited to see their mom on the big screen.

"I just love to do anything that they'll care about," Lourd tells PEOPLE. "This might be my career peak because it's something that they're gonna freak out about, and I'm just so excited for them to watch it and love me more."

On this year's May 4, the official holiday commemorating Star Wars, the actress and daughter of the late Carrie Fisher shared a photo of her two young kids watching their grandmother's iconic turn as Princess Leia.

In the photo, which Lourd shared on Instagram, her son Kingston and daughter Jackson looked up at a TV playing 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, the third film in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Both Kingston and Jackson — whom Lourd shares with husband Austen Rydell — appeared enthralled as they watched Fisher, who was wearing her hair up in one of Leia's iconic braided styles, on the screen.

Lourd shared a simple caption alongside the sweet snapshot, spelling out "May the 4th" — a nod to the franchise's most iconic phrase, "may the Force be with you" — using emojis: "Ⓜ️🅰️🌱 ✝️♓️📧 4️⃣✝️♓️."

This past March, Lourd spoke exclusively to PEOPLE at the Mid-Century Modern premiere and shared that her son Kingston had just learned how to ride a bike.

"My son just learned to ride a bike without training wheels, and he's 4. And just watching him learn new things is the most magical, crazy thing," Lourd said.

"I didn't learn to ride a bike 'till I was 9. I don't know — maybe blame my parents, maybe blame something — I don't know. He's so good at everything he tries to do, and just watching him try new things and succeed at them and feeling proud of himself is just such a beautiful thing."
