A new Rita Ora era is in full effect.

The singer and actress, 34, entered the 2025 song of the summer conversation with her latest single "Heat" last month, and now she's opening up about how the sexy dance banger is just a taste of what's to come on her upcoming fourth studio album.

"The whole theme of this record is really about being instant [and] really direct with my messaging and stripping everything back behind me, production wise," Ora tells PEOPLE at The Hill in New York in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she performed in celebration of Wimbledon on Friday, July 11.

"This energy with 'Heat' was so perfect just to get people ready for the new character," she continues. The steamy, anthemic track was co-written by Troye Sivan, and Ora says they "have a lot in common."

"I love his sexuality and the celebration he has with that," she explains of the "Rush" artist. "I was really inspired for me and my womanhood to really kind of celebrate my sexuality, my sexiness and get back into my body, you know? And this really just embodied that."

"Heat" opens its first verse with a provocative lyric: "Sex on sight, anywhere you like, inside or outside." She says the line represents "such a clear message of, like, 'Oh, wow, she really isn't holding back this time.' And I'm really not."

"I just feel as if I have so many things to sort of remind the public with, especially my new fans," continues Ora, who starred in Disney's Descendants: The Rise of Red film last year. "I kind of love the idea of explaining who I am again."

The "Anywhere" singer certainly didn't have to remind anyone of her superstar status at The Hill in New York. From the moment she stepped on stage, Ora had the packed crowd jamming out to hits from 2012's "Hot Right Now" to 2024's "Ask and You Shall Receive" and beyond.

Ora's performance came in the midst of the Wimbledon finals, which fans could watch at The Hill in New York all weekend. "It's so special to know that Wimbledon is so international," she says of the event.

"It's loved all over the globe. Coming from the UK, it's embedded in us," she continues. "It's our history and all that comes with it, and seeing the finals, especially for me, the women's finals, and being a part of such a great history, it's actually an honor, so I'm really excited to be here."
