Harry Maguire is not sure of the 'ins and outs' behind Ben White's choice to snub England but says the 'wonderful' Arsenal defender 'educated rather well' earlier than leaving the Qatar World Cup.
White was notably absent from England's 25-man squad to tackle Brazil and Belgium this month, with Gareth Southgate revealing that the 26-year-old had asked not to be considered for selection by means of Arsenal's sporting director Edu.
The versatile Arsenal star has not featured at worldwide degree since leaving the Three Lions' coaching camp early on the 2022 World Cup, when reports of a bust-up with Southgate's assistant Steve Holland hit the headlines.
White has confronted robust criticism from some corners, with former Tottenham and QPR manager Harry Redknapp branding his decision 'disgusting' and urging Southgate to 'slam the door' on a potential return sooner or later.
It appears unlikely that White will return to the fold for this summer time's European Championships and England defender Maguire – certainly one of Southgate's most trusted squad members – is unsure of the explanations behind his fellow countryman's considering.
'Ben's a superb footballer,' the Manchester United centre-back advised The Times when requested about White's determination ahead of England's pleasant with Brazil.
'He educated rather well [at the World Cup before heading home early] but I truthfully don't know the ins and outs of why he's not eager to be in the squad in the intervening time.
'All I do know is that enjoying on your nation is the greatest honour a footballer can get.
'Once I was a younger boy I dreamt of enjoying for my nation.
'Each opportunity I get I'll take. Enjoying for my nation means absolutely all the things to me.'
Conor Coady echoed Maguire's comments when requested about White, insisting the Arsenal man came off as a 'nice character' once they joined up with England two years ago.
'Once I was within the England squad and he was, he was a fantastic character to have across the place,' the Leicester defender informed BBC& Radio 5 Stay.
'He is a superb lad, in the beginning. How he trains, how he goes on about his business, he's prime prime drawer.'&
Asked if he had been left saddened by the state of affairs, Coady replied: 'Yeah, because I feel he is an outstanding player.&
'What he is doing at this second in time with& Bukayo Saka& down the right-hand aspect for& Arsenal& is, I feel, unimaginable.
'He deserves to play for his nation.'
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour, in the meantime, has referred to as for England fans to 'respect' White's choice.
'What he's accomplished at& Arsenal& has been sensible. Nice, great signing,' Parlour informed& talkSPORT.
I feel the& World Cup& really shocked him somewhat bit because there was a chance the place he in all probability might have been substituted and are available on and I feel Gareth went with& Eric Dier, who wasn't enjoying regularly at& Spurs& on the time.
'That basically affected him because he was enjoying sensible. He couldn't have been enjoying higher at that interval.
I'm positive Ben will admit himself that he's not the most important lover of football. Not everyone does. However what he's accomplished at Arsenal is sensible.

Parlour added: 'I went in a great deal of squads the place I didn't get a cap and was just there in case I received my opportunity.
'He has three or 4 right-backs in front of him, hasn't he? [Kieran] Tripper, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James if he's fit… so it's troublesome. I know he can play in a 3 on the back as nicely at centre-half.
'But that's his determination. Not everyone likes individuals's selections and also you've obtained to respect him for that.'
