Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison will not face a DUI charge stemming from a July 2024 arrest after pleading to a lesser offense referred to as a "wet reckless," according to his agent. Addison was set to face a jury trial on the charge this week, but will now serve 12 months of probation.

However, Addison will still likely face discipline from the NFL for the incident that includes a suspension, probably for three games.

"Wet reckless" (or "wet and reckless") is a term for a reckless driving charge that notes alcohol and/or drugs were involved in an incident. But the charge carries a lesser penalty than a DUI and does not include a mandatory driver's license suspension.

"As a result, Mr. Addison will pay a standard fine and complete two online courses after which we expect that his probation will be terminated early in six months," Addison's agent, Tim Younger, explained on social media.

"Over the past year, he voluntarily participated in MADD [Mothers Against Drunk Driving] events and programs and, after reflection, decided to enter this plea understanding the ramifications of this decision," he continued.

Addison, 24, was arrested on suspicion of DUI on July 12, 2024, after being caught "asleep behind the wheel," according to the original California Highway Patrol arrest report. A white Rolls-Royce was stopped and blocking a freeway lane near Los Angeles International Airport. Addison was asleep when officers arrived on the scene.

A three-game suspension has been the NFL's standard penalty for DUI cases, even if the player was not convicted. Addison's "wet reckless" plea is an acknowledgement that he was indeed under the influence when arrested.

NFL statement on Jordan Addison: "We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter which remains under review."

— Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) July 17, 2025

The league did not provide specifics but issued a statement saying, "We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter which remains under review."

Last season, Addison caught 63 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns. He appeared in 15 games, limited at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign with an ankle injury.

In his two NFL seasons, Addison has 133 receptions for 1,786 yards and 19 touchdowns in 32 games. He was the Vikings' 2023 first-round pick (No. 23 overall) out of USC.

A drowning, a lawsuit, a possible charge: Timeline since Emilie Kiser's son died

-

 • A drowning, a lawsuit, a possible charge: Timeline since Emilie Kiser's son died

Melina Khan, USA TODAY July 18, 2025 at 12:18 AM

Emilie Kiser was known for vlogging about life as a mom to her millions of social media followers before her 3-year-old son's death in May.

Since then, she has gone silent online as officials investigate the incident and her lawyers push to conceal records in the case.

Trigg Kiser died on May 18 after being pulled from a backyard pool in Chandler, Arizona, six days earlier, police previously confirmed to USA TODAY. Court documents said Trigg's death was an accidental drowning in the family's pool.

Brady Kiser told police he was watching the couple's newborn son when Trigg fell into the pool, according to search warrant applications granted by Maricopa County Superior Court judges in May.

The Chandler Police Department on July 15 announced that it recommended a class 4 felony charge of child abuse against Brady Kiser. Prosecutors will now review the recommendation.

Here's a look at the full timeline of the case so far.

May 12: Trigg Kiser pulled from pool, in critical condition

Chandler Police Department officers responded to a home on Ashley Drive in Chandler, Arizona, around 7 p.m. local time on May 12, Sonu Wasu, CPD's public information officer told USA TODAY on May 15.

When officers arrived, they found a 3-year-old boy — later identified as Trigg Kiser — unconscious after being pulled from a backyard pool and began administering CPR. Chandler Fire Department arrived on scene shortly thereafter and took over aid.

He was taken to Chandler Regional Hospital and later flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital where he was in critical condition after the incident.

May 13: Police file search warrant for surveillance video

The day after Trigg Kiser was hospitalized, Chandler police filed search warrant applications to obtain video surveillance from two outdoor cameras in the backyard of the Kiser's home. The applications, which were granted, included sworn police affidavits detailing an interview with Brady Kiser about the moments leading up to Trigg falling into the pool.

Brady Kiser told police he was home alone with the couple's two sons when he lost sight of Trigg for three to five minutes before finding the boy floating in the pool, according to the applications. Emilie Kiser was out with friends at the time.

Trigg went to the backyard to play after he finished eating, and Brady Kiser told police he saw Trigg playing near the pool, which the police records said was "not uncommon." The pool usually had a protective cover on it, according to the records.

Brady Kiser was "soon distracted" by his newborn son, the police records said. Once he saw that Trigg was in the pool, he jumped in to get the boy and called 911, according to the records.

May 18: Trigg Kiser dies

Trigg Kiser died on May 18, Sonu Wasu, Chandler Police Department's public information officer, said in a statement.

He had been hospitalized for six days after being pulled out of the family's backyard pool.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the child's family and loved ones during this unimaginable time," Wasu said at the time.

Emilie Kiser lawsuit: Influencer asks to 'grieve in private.' Why public records could be released anyway.

May 27: Emilie Kiser files lawsuit to conceal records

Emilie Kiser attends the Poppi Soda's Back Beach Bash at Gurney's Montauk on July 28, 2023, in Montauk, New York.

Attorneys for Emilie Kiser filed a lawsuit in Arizona Superior Court for Maricopa County on May 27 to prevent the release of public documents related to Trigg Kiser's death.

The lawsuit said more than 100 requests were filed with the City of Chandler and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office for access to public records related to Trigg Kiser's death. USA TODAY filed a request on May 15 — three days after the initial drowning call — with the City of Chandler for access to the police report.

Emilie Kiser's attorneys said in the filing that she and her family "desperately want to grieve in private, but sadly, the public will not let them," adding that her son's death "has become a media frenzy."

"Emilie is trying her best to be there for her surviving son, two-month-old Theodore," the lawsuit says. "But every day is a battle."

Gallagher & Kennedy, the firm representing Kiser, has not responded to USA TODAY's requests for comment.

Emilie Kiser lawsuit: Will public records about Kiser's son's death be released? What we know.

June 3: First hearing in public records lawsuit

Emilie Kiser's attorney, Kevin O'Malley, heads back to his seat after presenting to Judge Christopher Whitten during a hearing at the Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, on June 3, 2025.

The first hearing in Kiser's lawsuit was held on June 3; the lawsuit is currently ongoing.

According to The Arizona Republic, part of the USA TODAY Network, Kiser's attorney Kevin O'Malley said during the hearing that some redacted documents are likely "appropriate" for public release.

As a result of the hearing, the parties in the case agreed to an interim order prohibiting the dissemination of the public records in question, according to court filings obtained by USA TODAY. The order is meant in part to "prevent the premature public release of sensitive materials," according to the filing.

This means the records relating to Trigg's death will not be released while the case is litigated in court.

Kiser's attorneys also filed a notice to dismiss some agencies from the lawsuit, and the court sealed a declaration Kiser wrote about this case.

July 15: Police recommend felony child abuse charge

On July 15, the Chandler Police Department said in a statement that investigators are recommending a class 4 felony child abuse charge against Brady Kiser "following a thorough review of the evidence."

Prosecutors from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office will now review the recommendation, the statement said.

A class 4 felony child abuse charge means a person who is in custody of a child or vulnerable adult acted with criminal negligence in situations where physical harm or death is likely, according to Arizona law.

Criminal negligence is when "a person fails to perceive a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the result will occur or that the circumstance exists," according to Arizona law.

As of Thursday, July 17, Brady Kiser has not been formally charged. Prosecutors are reviewing the case and will decide whether to charge him, send the case back to police for further investigation, or drop the case.

Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams decides to retire from NFL at age 30

FILE - Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams cannot make a catch in the end zone during the second half of an NFL football game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Nov. 8, 2020, in Inglewood, Calif. (AP Photo/Ashley Landis, file) ()

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams has retired from the NFL at age 30.

His agent, Tory Dandy, told general manager Joe Ortiz on Wednesday night, hours before the Chargers became the first NFL team to open training camp Thursday.

Williams signed a $6 million, one-year deal in mid-March to return to the Chargers for his second stint with the team. On Monday, he was placed on the physically unable to perform list with an undisclosed injury and two days later called it quits.

"It's obviously a tough situation," quarterback Justin Herbert said. "Football, at the end of the day, is a game and there's more to life than just football and I'm just hoping for the best for him."

Williams played eight seasons in the NFL, including stints with both the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024.

"I don't want to say shocking," safety Derwin James said of the news, "but definitely I'd love to have him out there with me."

Coach Jim Harbaugh made no mention of Williams' decision when he spoke to media earlier Thursday.

"Mike has always done such a great job of just showing up and working. He's been an excellent leader and teammate," Herbert said. "That's what we appreciate and love the most about him. It's definitely tough to replace a guy like that. There's not too many guys like Mike and we're definitely going to miss him."

The Chargers drafted Williams in the first round with the seventh overall pick in 2017. He had 330 career receptions, 5,104 receiving yards and 32 touchdown receptions over his eight-year career.

Williams' pro debut was delayed by a back injury that caused him to miss training camp. He sat out the first six games of the regular season before seeing action. He was sidelined by a knee injury in Week 13.

In 2021, Williams and Herbert built a rapport early on, with Williams totaling six receiving TDs and 471 receiving yards in the team's first five games. That set the stage for a breakout season, with Williams setting career highs in receptions (76), targets (129) and yards (1,146) while scoring nine TDs.

After the 2021 season, Williams signed a $60 million, three-year extension with the Chargers.

In 2022, Williams had a back fracture that kept him out of the team's opening playoff loss to Jacksonville. The following season, Williams sustained a season-ending ACL tear in Week 3. He was released by the Chargers early last year.

Soon after, Williams signed a one-year deal with the Jets. He was later criticized by quarterback Aaron Rodgers for running the wrong route on a pass intended for him, leading to a game-clinching interception in a loss to Buffalo.

Last November, the Jets traded Williams to the Steelers for a fifth-round draft pick. He had a combined 21 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown for both teams.

Williams helped Clemson win the national championship in 2017 and then decided to forego his senior year to enter the draft. In 2015, he broke a bone in his neck after colliding with the goal post as he caught a touchdown pass.

With Williams gone, wide receiver Tre' Harris' holdout gains significance. The second-round pick out of Mississippi has yet to report, but Herbert isn't worried.

"He's done such a great job, especially in OTAs, of making up for that time," Herbert said. "Whenever that deal gets done and he comes back, he's not going to miss a beat."

Harbaugh also downplayed Harris' absence, saying, "There's a business side to football. Him and Joe Hortiz will get that worked out. I hope it gets done sooner rather than later. That's facts, as the young people say."

The Chargers also signed tackle Ryan Nelson from the UFL.

Nelson started 22 of 28 games for the Michigan Panthers over the last three years in the UFL, including an appearance in the league's championship game last year.

Nelson, who is from nearby Buena Park in Orange County, played four seasons at Virginia.

-

 • Connie Francis' 'Pretty Little Baby' became an unexpected TikTok hit — 63 years after its release

MARIA SHERMAN and ITZEL LUNAJuly 18, 2025 at 3:32 AM

Connie Francis was a giant of 1950s and '60s sugary-sweet pop, notching more than a dozen hits. In the months leading up to her death, announced Thursday, she experienced one more in "Pretty Little Baby," which has become a viral hit on TikTok six decades after its release.

As of Thursday, more than 22.5 million TikTok videos have been created using the sound, often partnering videos of baby animals, toddlers, makeup tutorials and retro fashions. According to TikTok, those videos have amassed more than 45.5 billion views, globally. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and North West have used it, too, with West lip-syncing along to the track.

Hooky, feel-good pop songs tend to do well on TikTok, and 1962's "Pretty Little Baby" is an exemplar of that phenomenon. Users gravitated toward the song's wholesome simplicity, sweet vocals, delicate organ and upstroke riffs. "You can ask the flowers / I sit for hours / Telling all the bluebirds / The bill and coo birds / Pretty little baby, I'm so in love with you," Francis swoons on the verse that has picked up steam on the platform.

And all of this has transpired in mere months: According to Luminate, an industry data and analytics company, "Pretty Little Baby" was earning just over 17,000 on-demand audio streams in the U.S. during the week ending April 10. A month later, that number had climbed to 2.4 million. That's a growth of over 7,000%. The song has earned over 29 million streams this year so far.

In one popular video, which garnered over 56 million views, a user posted about baby teething hacks for first-time moms. Another user, Amari Goins, posted a video, with over 112 million views, of her 2-year-old daughter singing along to the lyrics, noting that her toddler picked up the song because of how often they heard it on TikTok.

Most recently, TikTok users have begun posting covers of "Pretty Little Baby" as part of a singing challenge, where they exaggerate Francis' performance with their own stylized vocal runs. Francis, who died at 87, herself joined TikTok as a result of her song's popularity, and her first two videos — which earned 16.3 million and 31.2 million views, respectively — furthered engagement. In her first video, posted in early June, she said she was "flabbergasted and amazed" at the song's resurgence.

"To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is captivating new generations of audiences is truly overwhelming for me," Francis said in that first post, which she followed with a clip of herself lip-syncing to the song.

For decades, the song lived in relative obscurity — written by Don Stirling and Bill Nauman for Francis, it was never a single and was originally released in the U.K. as the B-side of her 1962 single "I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter." It appears on her album "Connie Francis Sings 'Second Hand Love,'" released the same year. More than 60 years later, the song reached No. 20 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart in June 2025 and hit both the Hot 100's Bubbling Under chart and the Billboard Global 200.

In Francis' last TikTok video, posted late last month, she thanked the "many wonderful artists" who paid tribute to her, and all the users who sang along with her.

Peter Lemongello Jr., a singer and performer who called Francis a friend, posted a TikTok in May where he sang the song to Francis, what he wrote on Facebook was "one of the greatest and most exciting moments of my career so far." The video garnered over 15 million views.

"There are no words to express this monumental loss," he wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday. "I will be forever grateful to her for the help she gave me with my career."

Ian Paget, a TikTok creator, posted a tearful video Thursday and said he hopes Francis and her family "have felt that love from the younger crowd learning who she is."

The TikTok popularity of "Pretty Little Baby" prompted her label Republic/UMe Records to reissue versions Francis had sung in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish in 1962. Bruce Resnikoff, president and CEO of UMe, wrote in a statement that the global catalog division was saddened but took "comfort in knowing how joyful and fulfilled she felt in these last few months, as a new generation discovered her music and celebrated her legacy."

In May, as the song took off, Francis thanked TikTok and its users for "the wonderful, and oh so unexpected, reception" in a Facebook post.

As for her reaction to having a "viral hit"? She continued: "Clearly out of touch with present day music statistics terminology, my initial response was to ask: 'What's that?' Thank you everyone!"
