Bradley Cooper enlists Laura Dern, Will Arnett for divorce comedy 'Is This Thing On?'

Bradley Cooperhas proven he understands the language of music. But is he fluent in punchlines?

The Oscar-nominated actor and director offered a sneak peek at his latest film, "Is This Thing On?," with the release of the movie'sofficial traileron Tuesday, Nov. 18. The upcoming dramedy, directed and cowritten by Cooper, starsWill ArnettandLaura Dern.

The film follows estranged couple Alex (Arnett) and Tess (Dern) as they navigate the emotional aftermath of their crumbling marriage. Amid the pair's marital woes, Alex unexpectedly discovers an artistic refuge in the New York comedy scene.

"I think I'm getting a divorce. What tipped me off was that I'm living in an apartment on my own, and my wife and kids don't live there," Alex deadpans in one scene. "That was probably the biggest clue."

Will Bradley Cooper star in 'Is This Thing On?'

Cooper also makes an appearance in the film, although details on his character haven't been confirmed, according to the film'sIMDb page.

"Is This Thing On?" is Cooper's third feature film as a director, following 2018's"A Star is Born"and 2023's"Maestro."

"A Star is Born," a remake of the 1937 romantic drama starring Cooper as jaded rock star Jackson Maine andLady Gagaas aspiring singer Ally Campana, grossed$436.4 million worldwideand earned Cooper Academy Award nominations for best motion picture, best performance by an actor in a leading role and best adapted screenplay.

"Maestro," a biopic that starred Cooper as composerLeonard Bernstein, scored seven Oscar nods, including nominations for best motion picture, best performance by an actor in a leading role and best original screenplay.

"Is This Thing On?" will be released in theaters on Dec. 19.
