But in honor of her son Spencer's 5th birthday, Kaling offered a behind-the-scenes look at her adorable little guy (though still choosing not to show his face).

To mark the occasion, Kaling posted a series of photos of Spencer—including scenes of him driving a boat and checking out the Back to the Future car. And yes, those glasses are too cute.
The Mindy Project creator also wrote a heartwarming caption to go along with the post, "Happy 5th birthday to the snuggliest, funniest guy ever. Spencer loves monster trucks, hot dogs, Thomas the Tank Engine, donuts, someone scratching his hand, and probably most of all, Back to the Future, which is why it was the theme of his birthday! Great Scott, Spencer! I love this boy so much, such an original, with such a great sense of humor. 'Good news, Mommy, it's my birthday.' It is!! I LOVE YOU!"
