Jack Osbourne opened up about the heartbreaking moment he learned his father, legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, had passed away.

In a YouTube video posted Wednesday, September 3, Jack revealed that a longtime family staffer knocked on his Los Angeles door at 3:45 a.m. to deliver the news. "When I looked through my window and I saw it was him, I knew something bad had happened," he recalled. "'I was informed that my father had passed."

Jack, 39, shared that he was fortunate to have extra time with his dad in the days leading up to his death. After Ozzy's emotional final performance with Black Sabbath in Birmingham on July 5, Jack and his family delayed a vacation to Portugal when his kids came down with the stomach flu. "I've never been more grateful for my kids to have the stomach flu than I am today," he admitted.

Fans blew up the comments section of the video, letting Jack know they are wishing him well.

"Jack, we're not going anywhere okay? Come back whenever you like. Take care of yourself and your family. We love you," one said.

Another shared, "The entire world is still mourning the loss of your father, so I can't begin to imagine how hard it is for your family."

A third commented, "Dude, it's your Dad. Take all the time you need. Just know, you are loved."

Though the loss has been painful, Jack said he finds peace in knowing his father is no longer suffering from declining health. "I wish he was still here, I wish he was, you know, still with us all, but, he was having a rough go and I think people saw that at the show," he explained. "But nobody expected it to happen as quickly as it did and when it did."

Jack went on to describe his father as a deeply complex man who was both funny and wise. "He was funny, and weird and awkward and clumsy and just hilarious and so insightful," Jack said, adding that Ozzy was "very aware, always," even when others may have thought otherwise.

The video contained a lot of other tidbits about Jack and his relationship with Ozzy, plus everything surrounding the emotional death.

Ozzy's Cause of Death

Ozzy passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack. His death certificate also listed coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease as contributing factors, the latter he had battled since 2019.

Remembering the Prince of Darkness

Known to millions as the "Prince of Darkness," Ozzy left quite the mark on music history. From his work with Black Sabbath in the late 1960s to a solo career that spawned hits like "Crazy Train" and "Mama, I'm Coming Home," he shaped the sound of heavy metal. Beyond his music, he became a pop culture icon through reality TV and MTV's The Osbournes from 2002 to 2005 alongside his wife and two of his children.

A Father and Family Man

While Ozzy was known for his larger-than-life persona, he was also a husband and father at the center of the Osbourne family. He shared more than four decades of marriage with Sharon Osbourne, and together they raised three children — Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. Ozzy also had children from a previous relationship: Jessica, Louis, and adopted son Elliot Kingsley.
